Update #5: A Powerful Picture

Posted on April 2, 2010

One of our still photographers, Amanda Clifford, captured this image last Saturday at the scene of the shooting we were at. It speaks volumes about what we're talking about.

Update #4: More Pictures

Posted on March 30, 2010

Hey Everyone,

Here are some more pictures from the last weeks of shooting, the first is one of the kids who we interviewed about growing up in New Orleans and his experiences here. The second is from the scene of the shooting that occurred about fifty feet from us last Saturday. A sad epilogue to that shooting is that not a single news source in New Orleans reported it or had an article about it except for ProjectNola. That day Saturday March 20th had at least five seperate shootings occur in the New Orleans area, with at least four dead.

Update #3: New Pictures

Posted on March 26, 2010

Hey Everyone,

We've been posting a lot of new pictures to our facebook account. Some of the most chilling are from Saturday, March 20th. We were traveling with our crew from one interview to another, and a shooting took place about fifty feet from us, we ended up being on the scene of the crime before the police. The victim in the shooting turned out to be only sixteen years old, and took place at about 1:00 PM on a beautiful day at the corner of Claiborne and Esplanade, which is a busy intersection. None of the pictures are graphic, but do convey the mood of the scene. There are also a lot of pictures posted recently of crew and different interview subjects. Hope y'all check them out, you can follow the link below.

Connected as Declan Ryan (666 friends)

(Producer, DP) Declan Ryan got his start in Chicago shooting countless industrials and ENG operated for news, and reality TV. He shot documentaries for Matt Golin, Jennifer Burns and Kevin McAlester and also shot and directed two films, ULBERT and HELLP. Just before Katrina he landed himself in the New Orleans film scene. Declan misses many aspects of Chicago but continues to reside in the warm sub-tropical city of New Orleans, where the folks are friendly, the film keeps rolling and the sun keeps shining.
