Who am I and why am I here?

GOOD QUESTION! Here's my situation. 

Like many talented people here on Kickstarter, I'm an independent musician/songwriter who's making some small strides and just want to bring my music to the people!! I'm doing 'ok'! My first album got some attention and I've been working with it for awhile now. It got me around the country playing some great shows, earned some industry attention and opened doors.  But over the last 2 years I have improved as a musician, I've written a TON of new material and met some amazing musicians I'd like to work with. It's time for a new album!! 

What's the goal?

The immediate goal is to get the foundations of the last songs recorded before my musicians leave on tour! 

I'll be honest, ideally I need $1600 to get this done. BUT I can make it work--it'll be a challenge--, but I can get it done for around $1,000. That means doing 3 songs instead of 5 in a lesser amount of time with maybe using fewer musicians. Not ideal, but it'll work!! 

Because funding is VERY limited I set out to record an EP (in between a single and album). But once I pushed my sleeves up and started working, I finished more than expected. Now I’m really close to making it a full length album- THIS is my new goal!

If you follow me at all you know that I have an opportunity to finish this CD in Nashville with some really cool people. This would be great for networking and that’s BIG part of being successful in the music industry. It’s what sets you apart from the equally talented competition. BUT this Kickstarter project is for IMMEDIATE needs that must be completed no matter what. 

Why the rush?

My regular studio fills up super fast, so I have studio time booked for early May. PLUS that's the last time the absolutely necessary session musicians will be available before they leave on tour. Not having them will ruin the cohesive sound of the album. SO I have lots of hope that I can pull this off!! If I can't then I'll have to wait until early next year (noooooo!!) to see IF I can get these same musicians and IF the funds are available at that time. 

As I said, this stuff must be completed for me to move on. Even if I do get the opportunity to do the Nashville recording, I still need to finish this foundation work first. Finishing this is soooo crucial.

What else?

You're very intuitive! there IS something else looming... This project is for the bare necessities that have to be finished by a certain time (excuse me while I wipe the nervous perspiration from my brow). But beyond this I'll need to mix, master and press the CDs. This will cost another $1,500. IF--by a sheer miracle orchestrated by the universe-- I should exceed my goal, it'll go toward that....and it'll be an awfully grand day if I can do that sooner than later!!! But , as I've said, THIS project is my main focus right now.
