Hi Internet!
I'm writing a novel!
There. I said it, and my mother was right. I do feel better.
It's a big challenge and I'm almost half way finished writing. But then what? I don't want to share my publishing rights with a big company I don't know. And I love it too much to let it sit on my laptop all alone.
What's a girl to do? Why, self-publish of course. And I need your help.
Self-publishing isn't as cheap and care-free as one tends to think; so I'm raising money. I'd also like the chance to get the books out there and have someone read them, and Kickstarter is a beautiful marriage of the two.
Here's the deal: You contribute money and you get cool stuff in return. (Good deal, right?) The more people who contribute the better it will be for all involved. It means a larger run of the book, more cool goodies for you, and more exclusive content for all involved.
Even if I've reached my initial goal, the bigger this gets the better the book!
With additional funding I could promote it, convince local retailers to carry it, maybe even pay my editor or *gasp* myself.
My goal is to write between 120 and 150 pages. This will be one of the longest things I've written, but I'm not scared! I've been working for just under a month and I'm a little shy of half way written. I plan to have the book completed by mid December. I'll then be sending it to my editor, the lovely and talented Jennifer Gall, and soon after it will be printed, bound, and shipped to you. There are a few other co-conspirators, but I don't want to ruin it.

Send MessageBorn and raised in upstate NY, Darlene attended UAlbany for Theatre with an acting concentration. After a brief (3 year) detour to New Haven, CT she's finally landed in NYC. Now faced with perusing her passions full time, Darlene is auditioning, writing, and singing like there is no tomorrow.
