I want to say thanks to StashMyComics.com for mentioning us on their site, and what's even cooler is that many of the spaceship concepts that will be included in the book have been featured here on conceptships.blogspot.com! Scroll down to see them. The post features 10 of our Porg ships, plus a scene from our latest story Transmissions. And those are just a few of the ship designs you can expect in the art book.
Today's update is a statement by longtime Carpe Chaos artist Shoham "Leo" Charikar, who currently works out of Texas:
"I've been contributing to the visual definition of Carpe Chaos for quite a while now, and I must say it is without a doubt the most unique and original of all the projects I've worked on to date. The project creators' insistence on bringing readers an 'out of the box' experience and refusal to resort to an artistic comfort zone (most notably with the exclusion of the humans we so easily relate to in other stories/universes) was something that has fascinated and intrigued me from the start, and I still hold to the original curiosity of wanting to see how far can original thinkers and creative risk-takers really go. Plus, I get to draw aliens, spaceships and starscapes while working with a bunch of super nice and supportive people who are, at the same time, very intelligent, creative, and always setting the bar higher for each other. What else could I ask for?
This art book is, I feel, an important milestone for Carpe Chaos. We spent a LOT of time working on bringing this universe together with so much miniscule and grandiose detail, some of which serves mostly as a guide for artists and writers and is not meant to be seen for quite a white. The book will show much of the creative process we went through as a team while the universe of Carpe Chaos was forming around us. I was fortunate to be working besides these talented individuals, and the awesomeness that ensued can't do anything but radiate from the pages of this book. I can't wait to see this book made!"
