We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Acclaimed songwriter and song-a-day blogger needs funds to record an actual album using actual equipment. Whoa!

In 2009, I decided to write and record a song every single day. 365 songs. It was a bizarre experience, fraught with inanity and other words that mean the same exact thing. I managed to receive a fair amount of acclaim and notoriety. There was a nice Village Voice write-up. I had songs featured on the BBC and on radio stations in Germany, Qatar and other places I'd probably have difficulty calling with a telephone.(Those damned country codes!)

Anyways, I completed the project and wanted to immediately transition to real recording and, gasp, playing music in a live capacity. However, as one can imagine, making songs for an entire year doesn't leave you with a savings account, or even a checking account really. For a variety of reasons, with accompanying sob stories, I have been unable to save money to build a studio since the project ended on January 3rd 2010. This is the part where I humbly ask for help. If you like my songs, please donate a few bucks. I'll be eternally grateful

Isn't recording gear expensive? Are you gonna be able to get a full set-up with this amount? Yes. It's super expensive if you wanna build Abby Road 2. However, I did the entire year of songs using a crappy laptop, free recording software and a microphone meant for a karaoke video game. I "cut my teeth" on literally the worst equipment ever made, so I figure if I just go a few steps above that then I'll be fine. Why have a mansion in Shangri-La when a nice cozy home in New Jersey would work too?

The plan: To buy two microphones, one for vocals and acoustic guitar and one for louder stuff, and one compressor(Probably an RNC), one decent-ish microphone preamp, one decent-ish electric guitar and one recording amplifier that can also double for live play. Also, I need a computer. My laptop crashed in early December and I finished up the blog with a netbook, which is ideal for Gchatting and not so great for audio recording.

Listen, I feel weird talking about myself and certainly feel weird asking for money. Below are all sorts of links to help you come to a decision to see if helping me is right for you.

Here are my favorite songs from January through September, mastered and collected as an album: Sendspace. Torrent.

You can also hear all 365 songs at the actual blog.

That's all for now. Thank you so much for reading this and if you are a broke fool like me and can't afford to donate, then reposting this on your blog, Facebook or Twitter account is also extremely kindly!

If you pledge $100 or more you get the most bizarre gift I can give. I'll write a song of your choosing, about your choosing and record it and it is yours forever to do with as you please. Makes a great birthday or Arbor day gift!
