Popping in to let you know that we're chugging along -- I'm looking at digital delivery occurring late next week (which is a bit more on the "ish" side of "mid-month-ish" -- several reasons for that, including the upcoming holiday, for example).
There have been a number of requests sent my way to give backers a little bit of time with the digital version before we go to print -- so that if you guys spot any errors that slipped through, we can correct them before production. I checked with C7, and they're cool with the idea, so that's what we're going to do. We'll go to press two weeks after we deliver the digital version to you fine folks.
I'd like to come up with some kind of special thank-you for folks who spot stuff and bring it to our attention -- my brain is pretty much locked in on getting this ready for delivery, though, so if anybody has any suggestions for this thank-you, feel free to drop it into the comments.
Back to it,
11 November 2013
Hey there, folks--
I had an extensive Skype conference with the folks at Cubicle 7 in the UK yesterday, and got the OK on our actual, Honest-to-Seven-Hells, no-foolin delivery for FAR WEST.
We will be going to press in mid-November, a bit less than a month from now. Delivery of the digital version of FAR WEST will occur to you fine folks at around the same time we send to the printer (to ensure that you all get the latest, most-correct, final proofed version).
I've said it before, but it needs to be shouted from the rafters: Thank you so much for your support and patience over the extraordinary circumstances of this project. I cannot wait for you all to see what you have wrought.
In eternal gratitude,

OK -- the TL;DR version:
Bad: We're not going to make the 9/21 delivery estimate.
Good: It's not going to be much longer.
Blame for this one rests entirely on my shoulders, and my enthusiasm for having the support of Cubicle 7 and after a year of crawling, finally making leaps and bounds towards completion and delivery.
In my enthusiasm, I totally overestimated the speed at which we could work. Despite what it feels like, 1 person doing something and taking X time to complete does not mean than when you have 5 people that it takes X divided by 5 to complete. There's coordination of efforts to consider, and logistics, and a whole bunch of other factors. But again, that's on me -- I shouldn't have locked into a date just because I was so happy to have things moving so quickly.
But whereas we're not going to make the optimistic date that I was so sure of, the good news is that we're so close to complete, that it's not going to missed by much.
I'm not going to compound my error of passion here and give you another hard-and-fast date... I need to make sure I've learned my lesson, and not assume completion until I've clicked the last "Save File" and it's done.
Which will not be long.
I'll be posting some previews soon -- including a few sample character sheet designs, which I'll ask for input on. One will appear in the core book, and the others will be available as downloadable alternates -- and you'll make the call which is which.
In the meantime, I leave you with a look at two of the recently completed backer portraits, and I'll be back in touch again in short order.
