Seraph / Tumblr

Update #7 · Jan 8, 2013 · 6 comments

We made a new short film!  Seraph!  Part of the Sigur Ros Valtari Mystery Film Experiment!  It's playing at Sundance later this month.  Hey, if you backed us to receive an original drawing from the feature, but would like an original drawing from this too, please let us know and we will mail you one!  I sleep next to stacks of these drawings and I'm eager to send them to backers...

Also, other news:  I have a new personal tumblr!  dashshaw.tumblr.com

The longer animation is chugging along.  I hope you liked Seraph...  But do you like comic books too?  You should!  I have a bunch of new comic books coming out in April.  A graphic novel called New School that took me years and years to make, plus a couple zines (New Jobs and Family Feud) and also a comic book called 3 New Stories.

Sorry for putting this all into one update --  Thanks for supporting the RC Kickstarter!

Short Animations

Update #5 · Jan 10, 2012 · comment

Sometimes I make short animations and put them on YouTube.  This is the latest, Wheel of Fortune.  I took an episode of WoF and drew the screen every 3 seconds, then put the drawings into a timed slideshow with the original audio track.

This is a similar one of an episode of Blind Date...

This is a very short cartoon of a boy burying porno magazines.  He is afraid his parents will find them.  It is a eulogy for this activity, now that kids find their porn on the internet and will no longer bury them like bodies.

This is a very early one I did.  A word horror video.

And here is a particularly dumb one.  This is a mock opening title sequence I made for an animated series titled Cell Mates.  The premise is this:  The members of the Frat Pack normally stop their immature, deviant behavior by the end of their movie, but in this alternate timeline they never stop their rampage and eventually they're imprisoned.  Cell Mates details their suffering, regrets, and prison adventures.  Enjoy!

We've all been hard at work here on the feature.  A making-of and animatic clip to come!

Thanks,

Dash

We've reached the end of our campaign, so we can all now breathe a quick sigh of relief between working on the animatic!  We are very grateful for all of your contributions.  It's full steam ahead!

We'll be reaching out to each of you in the next couple of weeks regarding sending you your awards. Thanks!

Thanks Again

Update #3 · Apr 28, 2011 · comment

Wowzers! We’ve reached our Kickstarter goal! “THANK YOUUU!” to all of the contributors and people who linked to us, friends, family, etc.: again: Thank you!

Well, we have a little over a week left in our campaign and we’re still gratefully accepting pledges to assist in this animated undertaking. Funding that goes above our goal will allow us to push the project along beyond our initial hopes — round out our equipment needs, allow us to draw even more of the movie, and even dive into the dark art of casting.  Yes, unlike my other animations, this one will have actual voices!  Human voices shooting through the drawing masks!  It'll make or break it as an emotional experience.

We really tried our best to muster up interesting incentives here: There’s still a couple spots open if you’d like to be drawn into the movie! No acting experience necessary! Or, with a forty dollar donation: a print that, after the campaign, will not be available again, ever! Same goes for the t-shirts! And, of course, we’ll be mailing out those postcards to everyone! Postcards make excellent bookmarks! Last chance!  Thanks again!
