The Project

We're going for an Oscar. And you can help us get there. We think the powerful performances from Good Men's two actors may merit an Academy Award.  The film's been going gangbusters on the festival circuit, and our actors have received a number of "Best Actor/Best Performance" awards. Before it gets to the red carpet, though, the film needs to become qualified for entry. That's where you come in.  

We humbly ask you to support our short film, Good Men, starring Ed Asner & Mark Rydell so that we can become eligible for an Academy Award.

To become eligible, there are several things we must do. We need to convert our film to a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) and have the film screened at an approved, commercial movie theater in Los Angeles County for three consecutive days. To fulfill this second requirement, we will rent out the Laemmle Theater in Los Angeles. We would also like to advertise the run in local LA/Hollywood newspapers to get Academy voters out to see the film. We estimate that the DCP conversion, theater rental, and advertising will reach a grand total of about $7,500.  Any funds (over our goal) received will be used to produce the next film in our series.

For a 12-minute, micro-budget short film, shot in one day in one location, Good Men has exceeded all of our expectations. We have screened the film at numerous festivals around the country. You might ask, "Why doesn't Ed Asner or someone else just fund this?"  The answer is that none of us has made a dollar on this, and thousands of hours of time and tens of thousands of dollars has come our of our pockets already to make this film.  Now, we need the help of you and other people interested in the type of controversial, compelling and compassionate films we're trying to make.  Our two seasoned stars deferred their SAG salaries because of their passion for the project. Ed Asner, star of Up, Lou Grant, and Mary Tyler Moore has won 7 Emmys and 5 Golden Globes. Mark Rydell, an accomplished pianist and actor, moved effortlessly into becoming a renowned director. He was nominated for an Oscar for his direction of On Golden Pond.

We'd like the voting members of the Academy Awards to see Good Men and to see these two grandmasters give the emotional, passionate performances they did in our film.

The Film

Good Men is a 12-minute short film starring Ed Asner and Mark Rydell as two elderly Jewish men who are long time friends and colleagues. On an afternoon before an Oscar party, Asner and Rydell get into a serious argument about The Holocaust, Conspiracy Allegations and The 9/11 attacks on The World Trade Center.

Sean Tracey Associates is co-producing the film with writer/director Brian Connors. They are planning to develop Good Men into a TV series, Web Series and/or feature film. Mark Rydell wants to bring in other notable talents in LA whom he has worked with before such as James Caan, Elliot Gould, Martin Landau, Paul Mazursky, George Segal and others.
