If you've been keeping up with the Packway Handle Band over the last couple years, you know that we spend alot of time on the road. Traveling always makes it tough to get new songs recorded. So a little more than a year ago when our summer schedule cooled down, we set out to record a few of the songs we've been playing in shows for a while. One thing led to another and somehow we ended up with a new self-produced album that we're calling "What Are We Gonna Do Now?" If you have seen us live recently you’ll recognize a lot of the new songs. You may even be one of the people who were always asking us why we hadn't recorded your favorite song yet. Anyway, it was a long process and we’re pleased with the final mastered recording. The planned release date for the album is February 2, 2010.

We’ve always tried to put our money to good use-- when we have it. The entire time we’ve been a band we’ve always funded every tour, three full length albums, and other projects solely through live shows and merchandise sales. For "What Are We Gonna Do Now," the money and time we’ve invested so far has taken us to the point of getting everything recorded. We want this album to make a spalsh and we realize that in order to make a big impact with this release, we need to ask your help for some financial stimulation for the "What Are We Gonna Do Now?" cause. We can call it the "What are We Gonna Do Now Stimulus Package."

There are a few costs that we need assistance covering. One is the mastering and actual manufacturing of the discs. We’ve got the order process going and it’s been charged to the credit card already… though we haven’t received the bill yet [coming in January] and we want to avoid the debt collectors. The second major cost is hiring a professional publicist, which we have never been able to do before. We believe that it is critical that we hire a publicist to properly promote Packway and the new album to the world. We’ve done media blitzes on our own in the past and have realized the limitations of DIY publicity first hand. We have a plan for the finished project and we’re gonna work hard with it to get the album to work for us.

The total amount of money we’re focused on generating is $3250 by working with the Kickstarter website. The trick to making this successful is working with the incentives that Kickstarter has set up for the actual project. For the project founder’s side [us] we need donations that reach or exceed our goal’s dollar amount, $3250. They won’t let us use part of the money, not even $3249, if the $3250 goal isn’t reached...it’s $3250+ or nothing at all. Their reasoning is that a project can’t realize it’s full potential if it doesn’t have ALL of the sufficient resources. Concerning your actual donation: YOUR CARD WILL NOT GET CHARGED IF WE DON’T REACH THE $3250 GOAL…it’s all or nothing for you too.

The incentive for you-- the listener, friend, confidant, fan, generous soul—to help the band offset the financial burden of this project is your pick from these cool prizes for your donations. Hopefully, you’ll see something that makes you think, “Hey, ya know, my life would be more complete if I could just get an advanced, signed copy of Packway’s new album mailed to my house…” or, “Man, if I had my OWN copy of that DVD highlight video from the 2008 Halloween show from the Georgia Theatre [that’s now burned down] when Packway dressed up in those black body suits I bet I could get closer to realizing my Actual Self.” Whatever your reason may be we hope we can entice you enough to actually motivate you to pull out that credit card and support the cause.
