A con artist is forced to steal a ring from his ex-wife before she wagers it on an underground high stake poker game. If he is unable to complete his job he will be sent to jail for the rest of his life.
"The Cross” tells the story of Derek Ross, a con artist who, after being threatened by a dirty undercover LAPD detective; is forced to steal a precious ring from his ex-wife. Hi Ex: Chelsea Joanson, won the ring at a table in Reno and plans to use it to play at a crucial game in LA. Derek has only 48 hours to find Chelsea and steal the ring in the process. If he fails, he will get his third strike and end up in Jail for the rest of his life.
Things quickly take a turn for the worse. After finding Chelsea, he realizes that she has used the ring as collateral to play a game with some dangerous big whales. Now Derek has no choice but to join the gang and risk his life in a poker game in order to win back the precious ring -- but in the life of a con, nothing ever is what it seems.
There are a lot of intricate twists and subplots in this story that will definitely shock audiences, so we’ll save the best surprises for the movie screening.
About us:
My brother and I want to make our dream come true and bring this story to the big screen. We grew up watching movies in Argentina and fell in love with Hollywood and the art of storytelling. When we were teenagers, we moved to the states with my family. Later, we went to Film School in Miami, where we directed a few student films. Afterwards, we moved to LA to pursue a directing and screenwriting career. We’ve written several scripts throughout the years. One of our feature scripts, “The Cellar”, was almost made in 2009 but the economy collapsed and our dream was shattered.
We directed a few spec commercials,
and after dealing with a family tragedy we decided we needed to pull through
and complete this film in honor of our late brother. We’ve taken a break
from writing features and are focusing all our energy on creating an amazing
short with the hopes that this will catapult our careers and take it to the
next level. So. here we are. We've written the script and we're ready to fight like never
before to make this short a reality. We want people to be entertained as
they are taken into this ominous world that very few people get to see.

About the short:
We will be shooting the short around various
neighborhoods in Los Angeles and
the San Fernando Valley. We have gained the trust of many talented people
after working for many years in the industry and now those people are willing
to work for almost a quarter of their salary in order to make this happen. We
have secured an incredible cast and amazing post team. We will be
shooting during three separate weekends in July and will try to our best to
have the finish product by October so we can do a Premiere before the holidays
come.

make this short and complete it without having to wait years until we are able
to come up with the money -- without this money there is no short. We
really would love to be able to share this gut-wrenching story with
