Join acclaimed storyteller Justin Hunt as he explores the history of an ordinary family living in an extraordinary world.

"The Speed of Orange" is the latest documentary by award-winning director, Justin Hunt (Absent, American Meth). It explores the horse racing entity known as GHL, a gritty, hard working family on the Colorado Horse Racing Circuit in the 1970s. No name dominated horse racing in the southwest as much as the Hunts, in that era. But just like any other family, this journey is full of ups and downs, victories and defeats. The first horse racing film ever shot in 3D, 'The Speed of Orange' offers a fascinating first person perspective into the everyday life of the sport of kings and will bring to you the power of redemption and the aching burn of personal loss. This truly is a story of an ordinary family living in an extraordinary world.

  • What is the end goal budget?

    the estimated budget is $250,000, but the $50,000 will allow us to finish the film.

  • What are the funds used for?

    We have several amazing things in the works for 'orange', including 3D, graphic animation, top quality sound, blu ray dvd distribution, a publicist, and academy award qualification criteria.  all of these things cost a fair amount of money.  some of the things that need to be done with the funds are:  1.  3D editing, to be done at florida state university, a leader in 3D development.  2.  graphic design and animation, being done by zoic studios, the company that has done cgi work for 'the grey', 'zombie land', 'little red riding hood', xbox, mcdonalds, gatorade, nike, and many more.  3.  sound design, being complete by hear kitty studios, sound designers for the hit tv show, 'breaking bad'.  4.  music sync rights.  largely driven by music, 'orange' will include great music from the 40s-present, all of which have to be paid for.

  • How far along is the project?

    All shooting has been completed, including all 3D footage, and we are now in the initial editing phase.  once the rough cut is done, we will head to tallahasse to do the 3D editing.
