About this project
Glenn Branca will be performing the world premiere of his Symphony No. 15 "Running Through the World Like an Open Razor" (music for strange orchestra) at Le Poisson Rouge in New York on November 20th and 21st. This Kickstarter project is to fund the recording and release of this performance as a limited edition, numbered vinyl recording. The final product will be a double disc 180-gram numbered vinyl with custom artwork by a surprise guest artist. With Le Poisson Rouge's state of the art sound system and recording equipment we can produce an audiophile quality recording of the performance for a limited edition release. This performance will include 13 performers playing over 100 instruments in a 7 movement symphony that is sure to be one of Branca's most interesting pieces. We feel it's important to document such a special and unique performance and limited edition, audiophile quality vinyl seems like the appropriate fashion to record this performance.
There are a number of rewards available for helping fund this recording. All vinyl will ship 6-8 weeks after the close of the project.

(Le) Poisson Rouge is a multimedia art cabaret founded by musicians on the site of the historic Village Gate. Dedicated to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, film, theater, dance, and fine art, the venue's mission is to revive the symbiotic relationship between art and revelry; to establish a creative asylum for both artists and audiences.
Glenn Branca is a symphonist. In the last 29 years he has composed 14 symphonies: six for electric guitar ensemble (1,2,6,8,10,12), three for harmonic series instrumentation (3,4,5), three for conventional symphony orchestra (7,9,11), one for "strange orchestra" (15) and No. 13 (Hallucination City) for 100 guitars which premiered in NYC at the former WTC in 2001. Since 2006 a revised version of the 100 guitar piece in four movements has been performed in Rome, London (as part of the Frieze Art Fair), Dublin, Belgium, LA (sponsored by the LA Philharmonic), New Jersey (Peak Performance Series at Montclair St. Univ.), Seattle (sponsored by the Seattle Art Museum) and St. Louis (sponsored by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra). He was also an instrumental part of the New York No Wave scene with his band Theoretical Girls.
