Update #12: CD Release Party, April 8th
For those backers in proximity to the great plains of the United States, we'll be having our official CD release party on April 8th at Herman's Hideaway in Denver (1578 South Broadway, Denver CO). You are all invited if you can make it!
Update #11: Digital Copy of Choke The Word's "Enjoy The Parade"
Update #10: Thanks for your patience
We appreciate everything you have done for us and we realize that it must seem like the recording of this album is taking forever, but progress is being made. We promise. To give you a taste, here's the rough mix of our song Gilgamesh.
We hope you like it.
Update #9: Progress!
We've wrapped up recording all our parts and have turned towards the next step of mixing the album to make it sound as excellent as possible. Things took a little bit longer than expected, but our violinist Gracie got a baby out of the deal, so it'll all work out. We're looking at another couple of months at least before we have anything to show, but we promise that we are hard at work on this record.
Update #8: YOU did it!
We are so humbled by the generosity that you have shown us. We won't let you down!
Update #7: Some Photos
We had a great resurgence of fundraising yesterday. Over $500 was pledged in 24 hours and we couldn't be happier. Here are some photos from our previous shows.
Update #6: We've picked out a studio!
After some lengthy window-shopping, we've decided to record with Brad Smalling at Evergroove Studios. Everything about Evergroove gets us excited to record there: the location (in the mountains outside of Evergreen, CO), the view out the studio window (a forest!), the comfortable feeling of the studio itself, the fact that the studio is solar powered (!) and the enthusiasm that Brad has for our music.
When looking for a studio, we had to keep several things in mind. First off, we wanted to make sure that every dollar donated by you, the supporters, was well-spent. We intentionally set our kickstarter fundraising goal at $4,000 because we strongly believe we can make the album we want for that much money, but we have to be frugal about it. We also needed to find someone to record this album that was comfortable with loud distorted crunchy hard rock guitar tone, but had experience with violins and cellos as well. Neither element can be sacrificed.
Every discussion we have with Evergroove makes us feel like we are in good hands and that Brad really "gets" what we are trying to do. We can't wait to share our music with you, our supporters. Thank you again.

Update #5: Last Month!
Update #4: Horsemen
Here's another rough version of one of our songs. This is one of our only pieces in straight 4/4 time. Things we'd like to change: tighten up the drum parts, bring out the bass part more, highlight the violin in the solo near the end, and sweeten the guitar tone.
Update #3: Sample of our work
Here's a rough recording of one of the songs we plan to re-track and include on our full-length album. Hopefully, it'll give you an idea about our style of music, and hint at the kinds of things we could do with an actual recording studio.
Update #2: 1/4th of the way there!
Thanks so much to everyone who contributed, we're at 27% funding (after only 2 days!) and are investigating prospective studios.
Update #1: Wow!
We reached 10% funding in less than 24 hours. We are so grateful to have this kind of support. Thank you all!
