Update #8: Chemistry available soon!!!
Hello everyone. I hope you're all having a good time getting ready for Christmas and the New Year. Just wanted to let you know that my CD is in production now and I've been told that it will be finished before Christmas. I'm not sure when exactly I'll have it, but they say the 28th at the latest - shipping this time of year is a pain. Here's where I need your help. For all of the local people that I know, we'll set up a meeting somewhere and I'll get you your CD. Anyone who doesn't live around Baton Rouge, I need you to send me your address. Please send it to jmader3@tigers.lsu.edu.
I'll get these out to you as soon as I get them because I couldn't have done it without you all! Thanks so much. I'm really excited to see the finished product and for all of you to hear it. I hope you all have a good holiday season...and that you finally get to listen to some Chemistry!!!
Update #7: Thank You So Much!!!
Hey guys. Just wanted to thank you all again for helping me with this project. I'll have access to your pledges in about a week and can then start getting everything ready for the release. I'm estimating that the CD will be officially released around December. I know that's still a ways away, but I plan on sending the CDs out to you as soon as I get them. That's right, you'll get yours before everyone else. Don't you feel important? You are. Thanks again for all of your help!
Update #6: WE DID IT!!!!!!!
I just wanted to let you all know that we have reached the goal!!! I can't believe it actually happened. It wouldn't have even been a possibility without each and every one of you. A lot of you did a bunch of free PR work for me and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Now I can spend my time coming up with a concept for packaging and artwork instead of constantly checking my e-mail for new pledges...not that I was doing that or anything. Remember, people can still pledge (I guess we can call it pre-order now?) towards my CD. Feel free to pass on the link. Thank you all SOOOOOO much for your help!
Update #5: The Final Push
Hey everyone. We're so close to reaching the goal. As of today, we only need $325 in pledges. I can't believe this is actually going to happen. I can't tell you how much your help means to me. Help me make the final push towards the goal by spreading the word to anyone who might be interested in this project. Some of you already have been telling others and I really appreciate it. Hopefully the next update will be to tell you that we made the goal! Thanks for your support.
Update #4: The Halfway Point
Hello everyone. Just wanted to keep you guys updated on the progress of our little fund raiser. We're at the halfway point of my kickstarter and are in very good shape. With 30 days to go, we're at nearly 75% of the goal! We need to raise $555 to reach $2,000. I'm very optimistic at this point but I still need a little more help to get there. I'm friends with most of you on facebook. Please share all of the links to my kickstarter page that I've been sharing periodically. We won't get to $2,000 unless people know about the project and what it's about. Some of you have already been passing the link on to others and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. John Madere is a Bassist/Composer currently residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He began his musical studies at the age of ten on the saxophone. At the age of 15, Madere picked up the electric bass and later began studying the double bass at 17. Madere graduated from Louisiana State University in 2005 and studied with Yung-chiao Wei. He then moved to Cincinnati to begin his Master's Degree studies at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. While at CCM, Madere studied with Albert Laszlo. After completing his Master's Degree, Madere moved back home to begin his Doctoral Studies at LSU.
Madere maintains a busy schedule of freelance bass playing and teaching. Madere is equally at home in both the jazz and classical idioms and performs both styles frequently. He is currently principal bassist of the Baton Rouge Symphony, and has held this position since his return to Louisiana in 2007. Along with regular performances with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Madere has also performed with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Rapides Symphony Orchestra, the Acadiana Symphony, and the Louisiana Philharmonic. Madere also performs locally around the Baton Rouge area with his trio, The John Madere Trio. Performances of note include the Northgate Festival in Baton Rouge and the 50th Annual Collegiate Jazz Festival at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
In addition to performing, Madere is also an avid composer and teacher. His students have been accepted to Louisiana State University and have also been members of the Louisiana All-State Jazz Band. His teaching philosophy is simple, he teaches his students from an early age how to overcome the difficulties of the instrument. If students can initially get over the size and other physical demands of the instrument, they will advance at a rapid pace.
Madere recently recorded seven original compositions to be released on his upcoming album, "Chemistry." The album featured Madere along with six other local musicians. The CD will be released on the Fora Sound label.
