About this project
e(L) (P)aper is an independent publication with a handmade aesthetic that strives to create an open, creative dialogue between visual artists, writers and the public at large.
Published by Local Project non-profit for the arts—a platform for artists based in Long Island City, NY—the magazine was born in 2009. Issue number 0 was part of the Alternative Histories exhibition, at Exit Art in Chelsea last year. Now, we want to continue the publication on a regular basis and we need support in order to pay for the printing.

WHERE
Local Project is a non-profit organization committed to building an educational forum for artists, creating a synergy between their work and the public. We believe diversity is essential to growth. At LP we support all forms of self-expression by providing an open space for artists without concern to their genre, medium, or provenance. The artist and the community collaborate toward a richer and fuller, mutual development. LP provides a creative harbor for all.

HOW
This is not about the arts, this is art in and of itself
Bilingual magazine
4 issues per year
Thematic publication looking to create a dialogue among writing and visual arts
Each number is organized around a particular subject. We work with open calls and invitation to artists who work throughout a wide sphere of cultural aspects. The subject for the past issue was LOCAL DREAMS. The subject for the upcoming issue will be PAPER.
WHY
We want to show the creative work of the people involved with Local Project (photography, drawing, performance art, writing), while generating an interdisciplinary dialogue between LP and other community and art spaces in NY. We also wish to create a space for freedom of expression.

Connected as Elisa Montesinos (687 friends)
Elisa Clark, accidental journalist and travelogue writer born in Chile, is a nomadic inhabitant of nowhere and everywhere at the same time. She is always planning a trip and hopes to one day publish her first novel. She has been dreaming about this magazine as an imaginary space, wherein we would be able to share and undergo the experience of being someone other than our ordinary selves.
