A beautiful book/DVD package that tells the inspiring story of Mahiga Hope High and the Nobelity Project in words, photos, and film.
THANK YOU!!! We made our initial Kickstarter goal, but that is just the beginning. The project is a success, and there's still time to make it a huge success! It's simple: Watch the 2 min. vdeo. Pick your level and your reward. Kick in... We think the first edition is going to sell out completely, so don't wait to get your copies.
MORE GREAT NEWS - the wonderful Carolyn Wonderland is singing at the Big Book Bash on December 11th at El Sol y la Luna in Austin!
AND HERE'S THE PROJECT RUNDOWN: I want to tell you the wonderful story of Mahiga Hope High School and the Nobelity Project. For the past five years we've been working in partnership with a rural Kenyan community: installing clean water and building a computer lab at the primary school, then helping the community build the area’s first high school.
My film BUILDING HOPE captures the hope of a better future for these children, and the hope the effort brought to the lives of all that supported the work. BUILDING HOPE is winning awards at film festivals across the country. After the SXSW World Premiere, the Austin Chronicle called the film, "Inspirational Redbull for the humanitarian soul.”
But the whole story is a much bigger than one movie. The Nobelity Project films have taken me to 20 countries to meet with Nobel Laureates and other amazing people who are making our world a better place. What I’ve seen and learned from them has inspired my work in Kenya, and has now led to BUILDING HOPE, the book.
Filled with beautiful photos of our Kenya school projects and from around the world, the book also shares the insights and wisdom that Desmond Tutu, Wangari Mathaai, Willie Nelson and many more have shared with me. This is my journey from the first tree I planted at the Mahiga primary school to the grand opening of Mahiga Hope High School, a journey that is bigger than me and greater than one school or village; this is a journey about the world we live in, and how each of us can reach out to others while building hope… in ourselves.
The best part is that this full color, hard-bound, coffee-table book will also include a pre-release dvd of the movie BUILDING HOPE (and it’s the only way to have your own copy of the film). I need over $25,000 to produce and print the book, but with your commitment we can make that happen. Buy one or one hundred. It’ll be a great gift and will be ready in time for the holidays. You get a book, a movie and an inspiring connection to the world. And I get to continue our education work around the world, and build more classrooms and water systems for schools in rural Kenya.
For less than 10 copies you can use the $75 pledge level and simply insert the amount of the total cost. If you want 2 copies type in $150, 3=$225, 4=$300 etc. At 10 copies (the $650 pledge level) you get a bit of a reduction and at 20 copies the price goes down to $50/ea.
Building Hope is produced by The Nobelity Project, a 501c3 education nonprofit. A portion of your pledge will be tax-deductible. The exact deductible amounts will depend on final production costs, but we estimate they'll be approximately 50% of the pledge. The Nobelity Project will provide a tax-deduction receipt for your amount.
You betcha! If you picked a package without the party included, click on your pledge and add $30 for each ticket you want for the bash.
Pick the $30 pledge level but put in multiples of $30 for however many tickets you'd like ($30 for 1, $60 for 2, $90 for 3...).
