The Revelers are a young roots based cajun, zydeco, and swamp pop band from Lafayette, LA and we have begun making a record.
Hello friends and welcome to our Kickstarter. Kickstarter is made possible by the community investing and participating in creative projects to raise the necessary funds to make them possible. The way Kickstarter works is a goal is set for the project and the funding needed to see it come to fruition. You can pledge as little as a dollar, and if it reaches its goal by the deadline it is fully funded, If not… it's not funded at all. That's right, nada, zip, zero, pas rien. If we are short of our predetermined goal, we get nothing.
For this project we (The Revelers) are working towards the completion and promotion of our debut album. As individuals, The Revelers are founding members of Louisiana roots bands The Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys. We've recorded with notables, Linda Rondstadt, Tim O'Brien, and Steve Riley to drop a few names. Oh but there's more… we've also been featured on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations for their episode on Cajun country and we are currently filming the HBO series Treme in which we are featured musicians and it will air in the fall of 2012.
We are also responsible for starting The Southwest Louisiana Blackpot Festival and Cookoff, a three-day camping celebration of food, music, and dance. This fall will be our seventh year (a testament to the community spirit that took part in its creation, and will no doubt take an immeasurable part in making this particular project a success). This past year we even started Blackpot Camp, a sort of Louisiana "fantasy camp" where one can get hands on instruction in music, dance, and cooking as well as nightly dances and jam sessions all taking place in Eunice, Louisiana, the heart of Cajun country. Admission to the camp as well as the festival have been included in the incentives for your pledges as well as the merchandise from these events including a DVD, soundtrack CD, T-Shirts, and commemorative limited edition posters.
