We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funding requested for travel, fabrication and crew expenses from USA to Sydney, AU. Enlarging a small maquette to 10x28x12' size.

I've been selected to exhibit work in Sydney, AU in the early fall of 2012. The show includes 100 international sculptors, and I am one of the few artists chosen from the United States.  The name of the show is SxS Bondi, 2012, an acronym for Sculpture by the Sea.

I'll be responsible for all costs involved, with the exception of potential sponsors in Sydney. In order to fund the outdoor steel sculpture, we're making a small edition of bronze maquettes and maquette fragments, 1" to 1' scale.

Although this is an unusual way to fund a project, collector support over the past few years has helped my work to reach an international audience, as it is completely funded by sale and through commission. If you choose to purchase one of the small bronze maquettes or fragments, we'll be able to mount a great show which will continue a larger conversation which takes place in every art studio in the world. The international scope will accomplish a great deal both to sense as well as articulate the poetic rhythms which are currently developing and evolving around the world by encouraging direct dialogue.

I'd like to revamp a well understood expression and alter it to "Sculptors without Borders" to describe the show, tending to encourage thought regarding how an exhibition of this nature and quality can literally transform regional and national esthetic leanings to encompass and embrace international thought without the direct intervention of commercial constraints.

I anticipate the funding target as 18-22K to cover fabrication and materials, lodging, food, partial air travel and on-site labor and equipment.  This is a large undertaking which needs to be accomplished in a short period of time, as we have about a week to construct and install the work.

Crosshatch Cluster (Murmuration) will measure app. 10'x28'x12' and weigh about 2500-3000 lbs. The image you see is the first early version, as the piece we will be doing is a variation and slightly larger to accommodate the site. I'll be covering as much as I can personally, and any funds in excess of final expenses and commissions will be directed and disbursed with all due discretion.
