Postcard Rewards

Update #4 · May 21, 2012 · comment

I sent the postcard rewards out on the Wednesday before the opening, and you likely have already received it. The postcards are altered from original cards that are on sale at the Menil Collection in Houston. I've titled the series of alterations "Postcard (Re)Constructions" to go along with my "Postcard Constructions," an original continuing series of mail art postcards.

The materials vary by work, but the intended top of each work is indicated with a red arrow on the verso of the card. All the dings, scratches, stains, and little printed bar codes that are indicative of the gentle ministrations of the mails are intended as part of the work.

Please feel free to post pictures of the final result as it arrived on Twitter, it's always nice to see how things showed up.

Rewards Increase

Update #2 · Apr 3, 2012 · comment

As promised, as we are already funded we've decided to increase the amount of art we're giving away. Kickstarter won't  let me edit those awards directly, so I'm listing the increases below.

$50 Reward:  We're increasing the amount of work from 1 drawing by Brian or a set of 3 prints by Chris to a Suite of 3 drawings by Brian or a both sets of prints by Chris (for 6 prints total). And you still get included on the backers list and you get

$75 Reward:  This is increased to a suite of 3 drawings by Brian AND both sets of prints by Chris. And of course, the altered postcard and thank you. $75 gets you 10 pieces of art.

We also removed the $125 reward level (since it became what you're getting for $75) and decreased the funding reward to get a collaborative panel from us from $250 to $200 (those are noted as part of the official pages).

Even though we've reached our funding level we hope you'll consider donating! And if you've already donated, Thank You, and we hope you enjoy the extra art we're sending your way.

Update #1 · Mar 30, 2012 · comment

With our project being funded in less than 24 hours (with the very generous backing of Teppner, as well as everyone else) we will be updating the rewards levels to send out even more art. Look for the official update this weekend. We hope to keep this project going, and would like thank everyone for their support.

A small (about 7” x 5.5” or so) original artwork on panel. It could be from either artist, or one of the original collaborative artworks that Brian and Chris have been working on leading up to the exhibition. The collaborations are best described as “mixed media on panel” and include materials as far ranging as oil and water based paint, paper pulp, epoxy, dibond, masonite, and various bits of collage and metal and other stuff. This also includes everything in the $75 reward level. International supporters should add $15 for extra shipping.

For funding our project in one fell swoop both artists will collaborate to make an artwork that uses or reacts to a text of your choosing. We'll also include everything from the $250 level. This pretty much vaults you right into the forefront of leading collectors of our work. Note that for this level we reserve the right to make all aesthetic decisions regarding the work after you inform us of the text we'll be working from. Shipping for this reward will be an extra charge to cover packing and shipping what we make for you.

Something really, really nice. We were going to make a collaborative work involving unicorn dust, but decided we didn’t want to have people after us for supporting the wanton and needless death of unicorns, so we’ll collaborate on a 3-D piece, and also respond to a text of your choosing as well. We’ll also throw in everything from the $250 reward level. As with the reward from the $600 level, we do reserve the right to all make all the aesthetic decisions for the artwork in question. Shipping for this reward will also be an extra charge as dictated by what we actually make for you, but it will be just really, really nice, and we promise that no unicorns will be harmed in the making of the artwork.
