What happens when you mix Shakespeare, sex, a go-go bar, & your soul? [ad hoc] devises up in your ultimate identity crisis.

Witness the devised work of [ad hoc theatre project], a site-specific theatre non-company bent on building one project at a time. Mixed & poured by the ensemble, [ad hoc] shakes & serves up your ultimate identity crisis: you have a body that is not always your own; you have a soul that isn't always known. Add in an interpretation of Othello you've never seen before, garnish with fantasies of perfect dates & perfect murders, & find your one true love: you. Come for the body, stay for the booze, discover the soul.

Othello, Desdemona, & Iago Walk Into A Bar will be immersed in the back room of the Trestle Inn, a go-go bar on 11th & Callowhill in Center City, Philadelphia, during the 2012 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Order happy hour food & drinks, watch & interact as we tell stories, take photos, dance, drink, flirt, fight, & find ourselves.

Featuring the visceral photography of Kate Raines (of Plate 3 Photography, photo featured above), the costume design of Meredith Boring, & an ensemble of writer/performers featuring two time Philadelphia Live Arts Festival veteran Emily Letts (Fatebook, Whale Optics), Akeem Davis (Flashpoint, InterAct, Philly Young Playwrights, National Constitution Center), & Meredith Sonnen, Theatre Horizon's resident production manager & [ad hoc]'s Woman in our premiere production, Purgatorio.

Director/Co-Writer & Producer Mark Kennedy (of successfully Kickstarted Checkers from the 2011 Fringe Festival) heads up [ad hoc] & raises the funding for competitive & viable actor stipends, designer fees, production costs, & producing costs, etc. That's where you come in.

This project is ours. It's for us, about our bodies, our souls, our desires, our shames, & how they come into conflict with each other. It's being made right now, as we speak. You adding your voice, your stories, will help us shape this piece.

Make a pledge to support our artists. Make a pledge to support experimentation with Shakespeare & Cartesian philosophy. Make a pledge to support devised work as it's happening.  Make a pledge to add your stories to ours.
