No updates since last year but I still miss my extender. Has everyone else got it?
Creator Brian on January 17
Still the best 50 bucks I've ever spent on KS! Thank you!
Creator David Threehouse on April 21, 2012
Will I be receiving my extender soon?
Creator Kenny Howell on April 8, 2012
Dunno if this still gets checked but I figured I put a post here anyway. I finally used my extenders for the first time today on a biking trip on the New River Trail. They worked fantastically. I was able to attach the camera to numerous places on my bike and make out nice shots! I'm definitely glad I snagged some. Though minor paranoia I have will finally be settled once the tether is finally available. I'm always a fan of extra security when it comes to expensive merchandise I don't want to replace, heh.
Creator DavidS on January 20, 2012
I'm in the same boat as Sajid, but a week behind. Any update on the remaining extenders?
Creator Sajid Fakir on January 11, 2012
I haven't yet received any extenders. Any news?
Creator Frank on November 21, 2011
Hi Peter, I received the extender and quite happy with the improvements you made from the photos you have up on facebook - the pouch was nice touch to keep it all organized. What's the best way to give you suggestions, success stories, etc...message through kickstarter, email, a comment like this one for someone without facebook? So far I see only one thing to improve upon. Will do a real world test very soon on my bike. Disregard my message about a switch of address change, my neighbor received it and gave it to me ;)

Patrick, I just got an email with shipping details, so I think the extenders have started shipping.
Creator JustWondering on November 10, 2011
How about an update on the extenders? Last post said they'd be shipped out after the trip to NYC. Thanks
Creator ehJay on October 26, 2011
Hi Peter, I just wanted to let you know that I've been using the Capture now for a good two months and it's such a great product. I've assisted at many weddings this fall - two of which I didn't have the capture for. When I did have the capture, my hands were completely free while my camera rested on my belt with complete confidence that it won't come off (and this is with a 5D Mark II with a 70-200 f/2.8 attached - quite a hefty load). It's also a relief not to have the camera strap in the way any more - I just remove it completely. Also, the quick release switch is in the perfect position when mounted vertically on my belt - I use my ring finger to depress it while sliding the camera out with the same hand.
I have a couple issues, however:
- Occasionally if the camera is not positioned completely square with the base unit it tends to get stuck, kind of annoying when I'm trying to clip my camera in quickly. This seems to be happening more often as I use the capture more... perhaps the aluminium is getting worn away?
- The locking screw doesn't feel like it stays tight even when you crank it down; it seems to come unscrewed very easily.
- The bolts that secure the base come uncomfortably close to the body of my camera. When I have a film camera attached, the bolts actually scrape against one of my lenses (50mm 1.4) when mounted vertically.
- Sometimes these bolts also don't tighten smoothly; it feels as though they are scraping against the surrounding material.
All in all, though, an excellent product and I definitely look forward to receiving the extenders and other accessories as you release them!
Creator Jonathan Sheehan on October 26, 2011
Not really what this product was meant for, but I attached a paint stirring stick to the mount for a constant focal length, then took a picture of every beer I drank at a two day beer festival. The Capture freed me from having to think, and let me get the stick out of the way for normal shots. http://youtu.be/5bzUggWAgog
Creator Trevin Chow on October 26, 2011
Peter, I just got back from 4 week trip in Europe and the Capture Clip system came in amazingly handy when I was hiking through the swiss alps. Every other photographer I passed by gave me a second look as they saw my SLR connected to my background strap on my chest.
While the overall comfort of it wasn't ideal, it came in amazingly handy. Thanks for such a great product!
Creator Kai Schroeder on October 12, 2011
Hey Peter,
are there any further news concerning the extenders?
Creator Justin on September 27, 2011
I just posted my video review of the Capture Camera Clip System, what a remarkable product! http://thejustinmurphy.com/blog/2011/9/26/capture-camera-clip-review.html
Creator Michael Yu on September 23, 2011
Thank you! This product is fantastic. Amazing build quality and workmanship.
Doesn't get in the way of anything.
Only minor complaint is that the camera can only be loaded onto the clip from 1 direction. If it could be loaded from both front and back, that would be a plus. But this is not a huge issue.
Great product!
Can't wait for my extender!
Creator Jake on September 9, 2011
Just used my capture for the first time. Did a shoot taking some candids of a musician while walking around SF. This thing was perfect. Stowing it on the capture is way more comfortable then using the strap.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Peter. Awesome product by an awesome guy whose stands behind it.
Highly recommended.
Creator Vlad on September 8, 2011
I waited until I was able to do a proper test to comment on the product. Well now I can attest to the fact it meets and exceeds all my expectations.
When I first received it I was very impressed with the build quality. It feels solid and well polished and easy to use. It also looks nice :)
Last weekend I went up in the Adirondacks for a few days of hiking and had the Capture attached to my day pack and my Nikon D90 in it. It was perfect. The camera was secure at all times and it freed my hands for the hike and when I needed to take a picture all it took was one hand and a few seconds and I was shooting. I can't wait to receive the extender and to see what other accessories you come up with.
Keep up the good work!
Creator William Conner on September 6, 2011
Hi Peter,
I have to tell you, the Capture has paid for itself many times over already. I was out on a river today shooting some water fowl up close, I got some great shots and began to leave. Because I had my capture with me I holstered the camera on to my belt before I began to negotiate the boulders back to shore, on my way back I slipped. Had I been holding my camera or had it been dangling from my neck, it would have ended up in the river after bouncing down a boulder. Instead I was able to use my hands to stabilize myself and prevent injury to me or my Nikon.
You have a solidly built product that works precisely as you'd expect. I can swing the camera onto my belt, and wait for the click then spin the bolt to secure it without looking (I find it easier to use tab down, easier to take off and better access to the thumb screw, and more secure if the swing bolt loosens) and I never have to worry about loosing my machine. I've had the capture for one week already and I love it! I'll be buying them as Christmas gifts for my photog buddies this year.
No regrets.

Thank you from australia.

Re my comment below - I meant sitting with the camera detached, but the plate still on my belt...
Creator Christian Caller on September 4, 2011
Recieved mine (in the UK) on return from a trip a week ago and just had a chance to try it out for a bit yesterday on my normal belt with jeans. Was great to have my cam so handy, a relief to get rid of the neckstrap which I now realise really got in the way alot, and is very comfortable on the belt. Only small thing is that the (smooth) top of the back of the plate still digs into my torso a little when sitting, but I'll velcro-attach a cut-to-shape thin neoprene pad as a comfort factor. Great product, I have two potential buyers with new cameras who I'm working on for you!! I'll be keeping an eye out for the extenders and any future accessories from you. Thanks again and all the best.
Creator Wilfred Chung on September 2, 2011
Received in Toronto, Canada a few days ago. I can't get over how well this thing is built. I love just holding it. I can't wait to get this strapped to my backpack for a tour through the Himalayas!
Creator sejtam on August 30, 2011
I took my Nikon D80 w/ 18-200 VR lens (yes, still with creep, still hunting for the rubber bands) through Bangkok's busy Chatuchak market. Capture kept the camera on my backpack strap, always ready, never in the way. And most of all: always safe. I never once felt that either the camera as in the way when jostling through the crowds (like it usualy is when held my straps in front of the body), nor in danger of banging against anything or being ripped off.
(I do have extra straps with quicklock sewn to the backpack to hold the camera weight on the backpack rather than my neck when it is hanging there, and they do provide an additional safety layer (eg against fropping the cam when not clicke into capture or being jostled when just unclipping it), but they are also not in the way with capture. It all fits into place now. I am very pleased to have stumbled upon this kickstarter campaign and happy to have been able to help this come to fruition.
Now ail I need is a raincoat for the camera that can be clipped to capture (or the backpack strap) to quickly draw over the camera in case it starts raining heavily. One that also contracts/gets out off the way when not in use (and does not need to be stashed separately only to have to be found and put in place when rain looms. It should always be ready. Maybe a capture attachment (for the backplace) to hold such a raincover (some stretchable material) could be done? it could come in several sizes/types/colours/materials/... for different camera/lense needs?
Creator Josh Harney on August 29, 2011
So I got my capture unit on the 8th of August. On the 11th of August I left for 12 days in Spain and Italy. The Capture unit left me with hands free, all but instant access to my camera on that amazing trip, and we took over 1200 pictures in those 12 days. My camera was never in the way, but always on hand. It's perfect. Thank you very much.
Creator Sheepshooter on August 29, 2011

Got mine (two units) about a week ago (Finland) but only got around to actually testing them yesterday, when scavenging for old soviet tech to be used as props from an old harbour, I have my tools in a second hand british MOLLE vest and attached one unit to the left-side on the chest, in such way that I insert the camera+baselate from above (since that's the way I could attach the capture unit without making a "belt" for it), and had another unit on my belt to be used when I leave the vest for a moment.
Works fabolously, I think I will make some sort on "mini belt" I can attach to the vest so that I can use sideways insertion there too, otherwise it's just a bit difficult to get everything aligned for the "catch" (there isn't a lot of space between the camera frame and the screws now).
Creator magestik on August 26, 2011
Got mine in France, few days ago, just after i came back from holiday, so i didn't try it yet.
Just tried it a few time, my nikon with my grip seems a bit heavy for the belt, so i will probably avoid using the grip with the Capture Camera Clip system. Anyway, i need more testing with different belts :)
Excellent product ;)
Creator Boppe Guillaume on August 26, 2011
Got mine in Geneva, Switzerland, three days ago. The quality is really impressive!
I wasn't expecting such level (I mean high!) of manufacturing.
As Gary commented below, the hole at the bottom of the baseplate is really useful!
Thanks for having launched this Kickstarter project!
Guillaume
PS: I just received a mail informing me that the second unit ordered on peakdesign has been shipped!!!
Creator Gary Hall on August 26, 2011
Got mine in the UK a couple of days ago. Even better than I had anticipated! Feels solid and secure. It is so simple. I spent about 15 minutes just clipping in and unclipping my camera from my belt - got some strange looks from my wife!
Also, I use a tripod with quick release plates so I was more than pleased to see the mounting screw on the bottom of the plate.
All in all, a well thought out, well designed, and well made piece of kit.
Creator Peter Dering on August 26, 2011
Thanks everyone!
@ Rocky, you're one step ahead of me. Hopefully I'll be offering the plate online within the coming weeks. In trying to keep up with demand, I've not found time to run a batch of the tool to produce only the shoe. That means I'll have to build up my inventory of full Capture units to the degree that I can safely rob full units of the just the plate (with the intention of replacing the plate to create shippable units in a month or two when I can get a dedicated run of plates). So....suggestion loquaciously noted :)
Creator Steve Turczyn on August 26, 2011
Mine's arrived here in England, very cool! So cool, I just bought another one from the website.
Creator Rocky Muraoka on August 26, 2011
Hi Peter, received mine just before our family went to Mt Hood for a hike. I had my Capture unit connected to my camera bag and it worked GREAT! The unit is very solid and works extremely well. Suggestion: please consider offering just the camera mounting plate. I would find being able to alternate between cameras very useful.
Creator Sriram ChandraSekaran on August 26, 2011
received the capture unit today. I'm loving it :)

Creator Ian Kidd on August 26, 2011
I bought this for backpacking, but I've been using it daily while doing siding estimates. I take pictures as I go around a house, and I need both hands to write the measurements, so this has been way better than hanging a camera around the neck.
BTW, the build quality and details are great. Good product.
Creator Sara Amor on August 25, 2011

Finally got a chance to use my units for some hiking and other activities over a long weekend. One unit on my belt, and another on my backpack. Great build, no worries about stability. They were a breeze to clip on when I was scrambling, clip off for a quick snap, and clip back on for continued climbing. Good stuff!
Creator Derek Chan on August 24, 2011

Here is a twist, our Capture saved my D300 that was pulled off a table.
While shooting a wedding, I rested the camera on a table. The camera fell straight down three feet to a concrete floor.
The camera landed on one of the tabs on the plate. The tab broke off but took the full brunt of the fall. This had to have saved the camera and lens (Nikon18-200mm), they both are working fine. Whew! All I need is a new plate. Thanks Peter
