Description: Marked as one of the final performances to take place at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studios before its pending closure, TAKE Dance and the PULSE composers collective will join forces once again in a three-night (12/15-12/17) performance series entitled FIVE POINTS. Premiering five new works by five different choreographers (Takehiro Ueyama, Jill Echo, Kile Hotchkiss, Kristen Arnold, and Milan Misko) set to new music by five different composers (Joseph C. Phillips, Jr., Jamie Begian, JC Sanford, Joshua Shneider, and Melissa Dunphy), FIVE POINTS presents an omnivorous collection of varying points of view. With “synaesthesia” serving as the collective thread of influence, all five pieces will explore the potential mash-up of the senses, i.e. touch meets sound. TAKE Dance and PULSE first collaborated in 2010 at Judson Church, NYC.
DANCERS: Kristen Arnold, Brynt Beitman, John Eirich, Jillian Hervey, Kile Hotchkiss, Gina Ianni, Clinton Edward Martin, Sarah Mettin, Milan Misko, Nana Tsuda Misko, Lynda Senisi, Kristi Tornga and Marie Zvosec.

About PULSE Joseph C. Phillips Jr. founded the composer federation Pulse in 2004 with composers who shared a desire to create and perform music that has no rigid divisions or categories. Music that is more plastic and fluid in its combination of jazz, contemporary ‘classical’, and ‘popular’ genres creating a highly expressive, engaging, and refreshing group not bound or defined by any one musical style. Through regular concert performances and collaborative projects, Pulse continually seeks to challenge and inspire each other and listeners. http://pulsecomposers.typepad.com/pulse/FAQ
