Growing up, I loved playing legos. Gypsy Modular is a furniture line designed to have that same functionality. Gypsy assembles with no tools or hardware, and is designed to assemble and disassemble repeatedly, for those who move a lot. Components are interchangeable, so you can mix, match, and reconfigure to create new color and style combinations, and even new pieces of furniture with your set.

I have currently prototyped several of the pieces of the set, and proven the concept. The hurdle now is getting a big enough order to be economically feasible. I would like to add some variety in color, fabric bins, and other accessories, but don't have the volume to do it. Your pledge will help me get to those quantities. Then I can focus on bringing more cool products to the kids line, and expanding the student and home lines. I have several more products in the works for the 'Kids' and 'Student' line, as well as a 'Home' line I am working on.

Unless otherwise specified, Gypsy products are made from Melamine faced MDF. Most MDF (medium density fiberboard) is made from recycled pre-consumer content. MDF is significantly stronger than most particle board used in other ready to assemble furniture. Melamine is a made from layers of paper bonded to the surface of the MDF, and forms a very durable surface. Edges of the board are left smoothed over, but unfinished. As such, Gypsy products should not be used outdoors and should be kept away from water and other liquids.
Gypsy products can also be made from Baltic Birch ply. This is a very strong product. As noted, you can order this product unfinished for the same price as the MDF. Several of the products offer this finished, but they are limited.

I grew up in a small farming community where my dad had a cabinet shop. I spent my summers building tree huts and bike trails through a grove of nearby trees, and my winters building cities of Legos. Through my teens I worked at the cabinet shop in my free time, and grew to love woodworking, architecture, and design. I just graduated with a bachelors in mechanical engineering and am pursuing my life long dream of inventing and entrepreneurship.
