Update #12: Global Union Coming This Saturday & Sunday
Sherry Watson said it best. We're looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
Update #11: We Did It!
At about 7:00 p.m. last night, I snuck a quick look at my Blackberry to learn that with his $10 pledge, Christopher brought us to $15,000. Thank you, Christopher, And many, many thanks to our 280 backers.
We've been loving the warm words of support we've been hearing from everyone. At 6:46 last night, Elaine wrote "I think you crossed it. Hooray for supporters of world music in Milwaukee!". At 10:15 last night, Lucky wrote - "According to the Kickstarter website, you guys crossed the line! Congratulations!". Richard wrote on our Facebook Wall (very early this morning, I might add -- we're impressed with this, Richard) "Congratulations on reaching your Kickstarter goal and helping to save Global Union festival as we know it! I knew your audiences would NOT let you down!". The big "CONGRATS!" from Nancy says it all. And Chris wrote -- "I'll volunteer at GU if you need me." (Answer -- we do, Chris. And anyone who wants to help out at the Festival, please shoot Rory an email at rory.trainor@alverno.edu.)
We've also enjoyed hearing how you've been following our progress on the Kickstarter website over the past few weeks. We always believed that Global Union was about community building, and it's incredibly gratifying to see the Global Union community in action.
And the pledges are still coming in! As I was writing this, Mara just pledged $25, bringing our total to a whopping $15,285!
You'll be hearing from us early next week as to how we will get your Rewards to you. But for now, please know that you've made this one of the better weekends I've had in a while. And with these great vibes going for us, I know the weather is going to be fantastic!
Thank you.

Update #8: 75% there and 5 days to go!
We're at $11,300, 75% of our $15,000 goal. We're only $3,700 away from being 100% funded. And when we reach that $15,000 goal, that sum will be matched by another $15,000. Thanks to everyone who brought us to where we are today. (And to those of you who have come back and upped your pledges, we are tremendously grateful for your powerful vote of confidence. ) If everyone would take a brief moment to share this link with a friend or two and tell them why you think Global Union is an important event for Milwaukee, we'll cover that remaining 25% with time to spare.

If everyone who goes to this incredible event pledges $10, they would be far over their goal. Come on, Milwaukee world music lovers, do you really want to have to travel for a festival as great as this one?

Thank you, Elaine. It really would be that simple. If the people like yourself who have already generously pledged to Global Union would forward this link to their friends and colleagues and networks, we would be there with time to spare.
