Thank you! So happy! The T below can't express;) (using my phone to write this and can't figure how to remove the accidental comment). We got a huge boost from the Harnisch Foundation; they are matching the pledges!! Now we can look into new power sources and continue towards the most efficient, reliable and sustainable. I'm so grateful to have met and exceeded the goal. Still 43 hours to go!!!

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your opinion. And I'm with you about all the huge problems facing our ocean. No one thing can possibly fix our environmental crises, and sometimes life support is necessary while better policies and practices are pending. Besides, I can't stand waiting for someone else to get on it when it is so dire, so I'll do what I can. For $25+ to the project, you receive a download of the film, "Reef Reborn," which is exactly what you are calling for: a film that documents the "educating of developing countries" to create new fishing practices. It has footage about the Balinese community, coral and the creation of the largest Biorock coral nursery (now an MPA) in the world. This film is currently looping full time for a few months in a store window in downtown Portland. Please check out www.globalcoral.org for more about Biorock coral restoration work: it can take the form of art or breakwater, seascape or oyster habitat. If possible, I intend to document the making of this project for a larger exhibit that will hopefully impact people in the US to take more direct action, large and small, towards restoring and protecting the ocean...Are you going to make that film to educate the people in the South Pacific? come on, start your kickstarter!!:)

Sadly, all of the world's ocean are in trouble. This project is a great gesture, but the expense won't offset any damage being done by the extensive waste, plastics, overfishing and toxic run-off from farming and manufacturing. This money would be better spent on a film or documentation to educate developing countries and help avoid greater destruction to our oceans? I understand it's not a popular opinion I'm sharing, but a piece of underwater art serves no purpose against the global crisis our oceans face. I'd love to see intelligent people funding education that has tangible results, vs an artistic tourist attraction in the name of environmentalism. Art is critical to us all, but not under the guise of helping the ocean - there's plenty of room for coral to grow. I recently returned from 3 months in the South Pacific in a dirty, developing country, and I can tell you that underwater art will not help our environment or ocean. I'm sure this is not what you want to hear, but thank you for hearing my perspective.
