Hello all you Fling backers:

I just posted the C-Clock project to Kickstarter.  It only took them a week (almost) to get it approved, but it's live as of a few minutes ago.  Please check it out, lend your support, and tell others about it.  It would be most appreciated! The next Kickstarter Project...

Update #11 · Oct 12, 2012 · comment

To all of our wonderful Kickstarter Backers:

Greetings! It’s been a while, but I wanted to give you all a “thanks” for supporting my past Kickstarter projects. I appreciate the feedback that we received from many of you with regards to the X-Pen and the Fling catapult. Please know that version 2.0 of the pen incorporated all of the changes you recommended and we have an incredible pen that we sell through www.desktopkandy.com.

I just submitted another Kickstarter project, and it’s found under the heading of “The C-Clock” (I like the one-letter theme prior to the product…) The link is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/956559417/1323383790?token=c41dba8e It’s a clock face made out of carbon fiber with brass accents and clock movement. It looks incredible! It comes in two flavors: The Classic, which uses a single cut piece for the outside layer (so it’s the uniform “twill” look that people associate with carbon fiber), and the Unique. The Unique is different in that it uses reclaimed carbon from our manufacturing processes for the outside layer. Instead of sending leftover material to a landfill, we can use it for a one-of-a-kind clock that looks incredible. We’re only going to make a run of 400 of these clocks, and each one of them is completely different than the next. They also include an atomic clock movement, so there is no need to adjust for daylight savings time. Either one of these would be an incredible addition to your office, and would complement your pen or catapult very well.

Please take a look at the project and provide some feedback. I submitted it on Tuesday, and it should go live today (I'm hoping) or on Monday. I would greatly appreciate you lending your support to the project. Have a great day.

Kind regards,

-Kyle

They're shipped (at least most of them...)

Update #10 · Oct 10, 2011 · comment

All:  Well, we had a frantic week last week cutting, sanding, riveting, and packaging the catapults and keychains.  We were able to get all of them done and mailed on Friday and Saturday except for the 6 backers that ordered the $125 office pack.  (We needed to make some additional red ones, and we're working on them today).  We'll have everything completed and mailed by tomorrow.

They were all sent in padded packages, but I'm intrigued to find out how they made it.  When you received them, please look them over and flex them a few times to make sure that nothing happened in transit.  If there is an issue, please don't hesitate contacting us.

Thanks again for pledging.  We're in the process of creating a website to sell them, plus other items for the office.  I'll send out the link as the website becomes live.

Have a great week!

We're funded!

Update #9 · Sep 23, 2011 · comment

To all my great backers...  THANKS!  We hit the goal, and we're still going.  I appreciate the support.

We have a completely finished product (see below).  It looks cleaner, and works great.  We create the arms one-at-a-time on the tooling that I showed in the last update, but make a large plate for the bases and use a tile saw with a diamond blade to cut the bases.  It works out really well, and leaves a clean cut on everything.  We also purchased a rivet press and use aluminum rivets to attach the arm to the base.  It's incredibly strong and looks very clean.  We're making the last few bases and arms, and will be assembling at the first part of next week, and will be shipping them out later in the week.

As soon as the project gets funded, I'll send out an email to all the backers to obtain your shipping information.  Thanks again, and have a great weekend!  -Kyle

90% funded and we're in Production mode...

Update #8 · Sep 16, 2011 · comment

All:  I just checked in on the project this morning and noted that we are over 90% funded with still over a week left to get some additional pledges.  Thanks!  I greatly appreciate the support of everyone.  As I mentioned in my last update, we created the tooling earlier this week, and we're now in "production" mode with the project.  Dave spent the whole day yesterday cutting, laying-up, and cuting the catapult arms.  (He says his feet hurt from standing there for so long, but I don't believe him...)  They look great!  Here are a couple of pictures of the arms and tooling.  Keep in mind they have not been cleaned up in any way yet...  We'll do all of that when we start to assemble them.

We also received the rivet press in this week.  It's a cool tool that takes an aluminum rivet with a flat bottom and presses the top into a rounded "mushroom" shape.  It's much cleaner and more professional than the screws and nuts we were using on the prototype.  Here's what the press looks like, as well as our first initial trials with the press.  You're going to like how it looks when it's all done... (and we're going to have some sore arms from using the rivet press!)

Our last piece of equipment is a diamond-tipped saw (used to cut the bases), that will be here today.  Once we have that, we'll be able to create most of Flings next week.  Keep the pledges coming, and we'll keep making them!  Thanks again, and have a great weekend.  -Kyle
