In the 19th century Europe of ULTRASYLVANIA, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and a certain Egyptian resident don't lurk in the darkness - they're world leaders, struggling to hold their nations together amid assassination plots, romantic betrayals, and political intrigues. That’s the world of our story. The setting. And a couple of the major players. But, it’s about a great many things – love, loss, mistrust, espionage, the murkiness of “truth” – and hope in the face of all of that.
Owing to the monstrous success of this campaign, we've unleashed the following Stretch Goals....
With a script by Brian Schirmer and art direction by Jeremy Saliba (Dynamite's WHEEL OF TIME),
ULTRASYLVANIA was produced in cooperation with the Academy of Art
University in San Francisco. Over the course of fifteen weeks, students
from the Academy's School of Illustration participated in a
first-of-its-kind Comic Collaborative class, wherein they met and
worked in
the Academy's state-of-the-art Cintiq studio.
ULTRASYLVANIA has
been rolling out as a webcomic since May, and Volume 1 will wrap up
sometime in November. By purchasing this first edition, you not only
get a digital and/or physical copy of the book - but also find out how
it ends before anyone else.
The story for Volume 1 clocks in at 75 pages. This 96-page first
edition will also include character designs, page roughs, early layouts,
and much more, taking you behind-the-scenes and giving you an inside
look at the various processes of the artists.

HOW THIS KICKSTARTER THING WORKS
You pledge an amount
towards our goal by clicking either the "Back This Project" button in
the upper right of the page, or one of the Pledge levels in the column
on the right. All pledges are processed via Amazon.com, making it very
easy. If we reach our goal by the August 31st deadline, then you will
be charged your pledge amount - and receive the reward you selected.
However, if we don't make it, then you won't be charged and we won't
receive funding. It's all-or-nothing with Kickstarter.
That said, let's focus on the all. In addition to the print
and digital editions of ULTRASYLVANIA, we are offering a number of
Kickstarter-exclusive rewards, including a limited edition variant cover, a chance to
use your likeness as the basis of a character in Volume 2, dinner and
drinks with the creators, portfolio reviews, a behind-the-scenes package

AWESOME! WHERE'S THE MONEY GOING?
We ask for $8,500 to complete the project. This will assure enough money to print the comic, ship your rewards, and cover Kickstarter and Amazon's processing fees.
The breakdown goes something like this:
- $6200 to print 1000 copies of the graphic novel through Lebonfon Printing
- $200 for 4x6 art cards and 8x12 prints
- $250 for 20 limited edition KS exclusive cover variant edition
- $1000 for shipping rewards to supporters
- $850 for Kickstarter and Amazon fees (approximately 10% overall)
In the event that we exceed our funding goal, we'll be able to unlock some extra incentives - "stretch goals", for you Kickstarter veterans - as added "Thank Yous!" to all you folks that made it happen.
