One woman. Sixteen characters. Way too many apologies. A dramedy about how a people-please apologist became an animal-loving activist.
I'm sorry you probably already know all of this, but I'm Sorry is my one-woman play about my journey from apologist to activist. In truth I still apologize sometimes, you guys...so I guess the journey continues. But I don't apologize when it comes to animals, which is what ultimately my show is about! A call to action to care a little more, raise some consciousness, and ignite compassion. Called "funny yet poignant", I'm Sorry's goal is to make people laugh, but also make them think.
The story begins with a girl who cares way too much what people think of her and feels that no one gets her. After losing her job, pissing off her family, and meeting several animals and people who profoundly change her, she stumbles upon a cause greater than herself. In finding something to believe in, she stops apologizing so much. She learns to stand up for herself. She starts really living.
Over the course of one year, I'm Sorry has been seen by over 1,000 people during 18 performances, in a 60-seat Los Angeles black box theatre. I'm humbled to say the show played to sold-out houses every night, and even received an Ovation Award Recommendation.
This year, I'm honored and grateful to report that I'm Sorry has been accepted into The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC)! I'm working hard to get this solo show ready for it's east coast premiere. But the truth is, I need your help (sorry, sorry, sorry...)
By giving any amount you can, the good-energy-karma-train will start rolling! If I can reach or surpass my $3,000 goal, it will ensure we can hire a professional stage manager, and a lighting board operator, so that all of I'm Sorry's technical pieces will be optimal! Donations will also help pay for publicity and marketing outreach that will help get butts (and hopefully some very important butts) in seats.
