About this project

I bet few of us ever met people like Konstantin Kuzminsky.

Konstantin is an avant-garde poet.

He lives in a tiny upstate New York village, on the bank of the Delaware River in an old shanty house near a railway crossing.
His freedom is complete.
His devotion to art is absolute.

This year he has turned 70.

Some time ago I completed a "no-budget" feature documentary "Konstantin and Mouse" (Mouse is a nick-name of his wife, Emma.)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0932537/
I worked on this project for five years.

Kuzminsky's left Saint Petersburg in 1978 and settled in the United States the same year. In the 80's he published a nine-volume anthology of modern Russian poetry. This unique publication is an impressive monument to the uncensored Russian poetry of the Soviet epoch.

A man of formidable knowledge of poetry and an encyclopedic memory, acerbic critic of everything “official” in art, occasional exhibitionist and consummate, unstoppable, performer Kuzminsky is truly the last surviving Russian avant-gardist.
And a not so far removed cousin of the beat generation.

My numerous attempts to find financial backing for the project in today's Russia were to no avail, and yet the finished film was picked for the XXIX Moscow International Film Festival http://www.azfilms.us/konstantin-and-mouse.html

My search for production grants in the United States were not successful too.

And yet film was well received in film festivals and various small screenings in colleges, both in the United States and in Russia.
Now I want to help this film to find its audience and release it on DVD.
The requested funding is to cover some rights clearance, pay nominal fees to the film crew, and DVD replication.
DVD authoring and cover design will be done in-house.

Thank you for reading.
