Update #8: Crap Hound #4 Update: Over the Hill and Almost Through the Woods!

Dear Readers,
After a few slow days we hit another milestone when Robin Anderson made a $25 pledge that pushed us up over $8000! Pledges have slowed quite a bit in the past several days, but are still trickling in and adding up.
I recently contacted Polly Conway at the ReadyMade blog about writing up our project. She turned out to be a former patron of Reading Frenzy and a big fan! We're doing an interview next week which will hopefully generate a new round of pledges. If any of you have suggestions for other ways to spread the word about our project it would be greatly appreciated.
This is a difficult time to be drumming up $$ for a creative venture. It's no coincidence that pledges plummeted with the news of the terrible disaster in Haiti. My inbox has been flooded with requests for donations and invitations to fund-raising events. I can't decide what seems more crass -- to not participate (as a business) in these efforts or to encourage people to buy more by donating a percentage of our sales. This is not to deride the efforts of other businesses, just part of my thought process regarding what I feel is the most appropriate and most helpful response considering my particular circumstances.
Ultimately, I decided to make a personal contribution, but have chosen to leave my business out of it (although we will help promote events and offer suggested reading on the subject). Reading Frenzy is a purpose driven venture -- devoted to independent, small press and self-published literature -- that makes little to no profit, and Show & Tell Press/Crap Hound subsidizes the shop. We've barely survived the past 15 months, along with thousands of other small businesses. Until or unless we move beyond a hand to mouth existence I can't in good conscience give away money that really belongs to our vendors, creditors, and staff. The publication of this and subsequent issues of Crap Hound is absolutely critical to that ever becoming a reality.
So, we have a little less than $4500 to raise and 19 days to do it in. If each of you were able to enlist one or two people to pledge at the STANDARD level or higher we could swiftly reach our goal. I know it won't come together that easily, so in the next few days I'll be continuing to drum up interest and adding some highly coveted/very limited rewards which I'll announce here first.
