A dance theater duet about the science of consciousness.
Mmmm!
We made it! Megan and I are so thankful for all of your generous contributions. We've been hard at work building the show and we can't wait to share it with you.
Although we've reached our goal please still consider making a contribution. We are hoping to raise some additional funds to do things like: hire a lighting designer, hire additional performers, pay our stage manager more than a pittance, buy materials for scenic elements, and countless other things that have come up in our rehearsal process.
We hope to see you at the show in September. Tickets are now available here.
Thank you!
M&M
A Dance Theater Duet.
Megan and Mason met in 2011 and started working together for the first time in 2012. They knew it was a match made in heaven when, at their first rehearsal, they spent 3 hours pretending they were Gremlins giving a mansion tour. This is Mason's first evening-length work in Philadelphia, and his first time self-producing. This is Megan's first time co-creating a piece. Megan thinks it's dance. Mason thinks it's theater. They both can't wait to share it with you.
About MMMM.
Transforming into a variety of scientists, gurus, animals, plants, and minerals, Megan and Mason go out of their minds and into the unknown to investigate human consciousness. Mining the Mine of the Mind for Minderals is what happens when dance, theater, neuroscience, and spirituality collide in a TED talk gone wild format. Can you dig it?
MMMM draws from the work of scientists, philosophers, and spiritual teachers like:
Marco Iacoboni, Jill Bolte Taylor, Antonio DaMasio, V.S. Ramachandran, Daniel Dennet, Alva Noë, Eckhart Tolle, Chögyam Trungpa, Pema Chödrön, and many more.
It has been influenced by Megan and Mason's shared practice of improvisational dance, their unusual sense of humor, and obsession with shifting physical and mental states.
The performance will feature visual design by Ryan W. Kelly and sound design by Michael Kiley.
What we need.
We are asking for your help to raise $3500. The money would cover all of the costs of the production including the Philadelphia Fringe Festival fee, renting the Jolie Laide Gallery for rehearsals and performance, posters and cards, insurance, paying our stage manager, and collaborating artists.

Performances will take place as part of the 2012 Philadelphia Fringe Festival at the Jolie Laide Gallery (224 North Juniper Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107).
