We are thrilled to announce the premiere of our play, I <3 REVOLUTION, at the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival. Originally developed in 2008, the show represents four years of sweat, blood, tears, love, and pizza deliveries. We consider it an incredible honor to be able to share this project with you!

Because I <3 REVOLUTION means so much to us, and because we want to share the best possible version of the show with you, we want to put everything we have into this production. Your kickstarter contributions will help us do that.

About the Show

I <3 REVOLUTION is a comedy about radical protest. Overwhelmed by their early 20s and swept up in the zeal of the Arab Spring, three white girls decide to stage their own revolution. Their goal is to overthrow the current world order. The only problem is, the girls can’t quite pinpoint who the enemies are, or how to overthrow them, or if the terror meeting was scheduled for 1:30PM on Tuesday or Thursday. The show represents the girls’ first public meeting, where they explain the revolution and attempt to recruit followers.

I <3 REVOLUTION was originally written and performed at Brown University. Angered by a political process we didn’t understand, confused by latent misogyny we saw on campus, and frustrated by our feelings of inefficacy both personal and political—we felt helpless. We felt mad. We were scared to graduate. From that fear and confusion we generated a list: everything we wanted to see or do on stage. Out of that list came our own revolution—a play, set in an off-campus basement. It was one of the most outrageously fun and rewarding experiences of our college careers, and the script has lingered in our hearts ever since, begging to be fixed up and restaged. Four years later, the revamped script is funnier, crazier, and more relevant than ever. We can’t wait to share it with a whole new audience.

We Need You!
Producing theater in New York, even on the tightest budgets, can be incredibly expensive. Your donations will help us stage a fully-realized production of I <3 REVOLUTION for our Fringe audience and thereby help ensure a life for the piece past August. Here is what we need:

Production Costs: We are making every effort to keep costs low, but the show needs killer props, costumes, and small set pieces, and enough money to cover the Fringe dues and mandatory insurance.  Additionally, since the Fringe venue will not be available to us until the show date, we need to rent rehearsal space.

Marketing: We want to take full advantage of this opportunity to share I <3 REVOLUTION with as large and as wide an audience as possible. In order to do that, we need to hire a PR rep to help get the word out, encourage press to review the show, and guarantee that it has a life beyond the Fringe.

Honorariums: We have enlisted an immensely talented team of professional designers, actors, and crew members, who have all agreed to work for free. Though we can’t offer the salaries, catering trucks, and health benefits they deserve, we would like to offer small honorariums to thank them for their time and effort.
