Please help me raise completion funds for this surreal horror short about a sinister mermaid that lures a young man to his doom. I've been in preproduction on "Fiji Mermaid" for about a year, designing and building everything from the movie poster to the monster makeup, props, special effects, setpieces, a stop motion model, even the T-shirt the protagonist wears. In that time I've assembled a fantastic cast and crew, and finally our production is underway.

This is a low-budget movie, but what we lack in budget we’re making up for in creativity and hard work. So far we’ve had a shoot at the Chesapeake Bay, and an underwater shoot in a pool, both featuring makeup and special effects. Much remains to be filmed, including a studio shoot with a beautiful naked mermaid, a location shoot on Coney Island, a stop motion monster, and a painted animation sequence of a sideshow banner come to life.

"Fiji Mermaid" is being filmed in a widescreen 16mm format and edited in HD, so a big part of any money raised will go towards film, development and telecine, a high-resolution film scan. I live and work in Virginia, so it would also help bring my cast and crew to Coney Island to film for a few days.
