About this project

Cardo's Farm Project aims to be an educational model of a sustainable farm, and to provide the Denton Community with healthy food grown in harmony with the natural environment. The project was founded by young farmers Daniel Moon and Amanda Austin in December of 2010.

Currently, vegetables are being grown on 1/3 of an acre, harvested once weekly, and sold to local restaurants, the natural food store, and at the community market. Also, the farm regularly holds educational workshops, discussions, tours, and classes for children and adults.

Now, Farmers Dan and Amanda would like to expand their project so that they can provide more food for the community, improve educational programming, invest in sustainable infrastructure, and run a more economically viable farm business.

A donation of:

$10 will purchase 15 flats used for sprouting seedlings in the greenhouse or one chair for the barn classroom.

$50 will purchase 30 irrigation valves, which will irrigate 10 rows of crops or 27 broiler chickens to be used for the Poultry Processing Workshop.

$100 will purchase a back pack sprayer for applying natural fertilizers and pest barriers or one picnic table that will be used by field trip children at snack time.

$500 will purchase a year's supply of vegetable seeds or fund a magical children's garden with raised beds, hiding spaces made from vine plants, touch and smell plants and edible flowers.

$1,000 will purchase a disc harrow- an implement for the tractor that will prepare the soil for planting.
