Kickstarter

The amount of material coming in continues to freak me out.  I received 5000 of the eccentric/cam spacers today.  This is from a new, higher volume source.  I now have about 6,000 of them.  That will be enough to cover all the rewards.  I also got about 2000 more of the delrin V wheels.  

The spacers are relatively easy to manufacture so there is low risk with a new supplier.  There is a little more finesse with the delrin wheels.  The bearings need to press in with just the right interference fit and the rolling surface needs to be very smooth.  So far the new wheels look good.  I'll do a little more testing, then order the rest.

I have a four foot long complete slide I have been showing off at a few local hackerspaces.  It has been well received so far.  Everyone comments on how smoothly and silently it rolls.  The camera slider people are going to love it.  

I am sending one of my sample extrusions out for hardcoating this week.  It is expensive to get a single piece done, but I think it will be worth it to get some test results.  I have some high quality dual V, steel wheels that I will use to test the durability of the finish.  I will make a motorized linear actuator out of the material.  I want load it much heavier than I would ever recommend with the delrin wheels to see how well it holds up with a lot of use. 

The extrusion production is in process and should be ready within the next few weeks.  The reward will start right after that.
