What's the story?

Hey everyone. I'm Steve Royall, the creator/director of the webseries, "This Indie Thing". I was also the writer,editor,camera operator, sound guy, location scout, producer, casting director, and I one of the actors on the show. For almost three seasons I wore all these hats. It was indeed a lot of work for just one person, but having an amazing cast working on the show made it all worth it. You can check out the previous seasons at http://thisindiething.com. Now we are gearing up to shoot a 4th and final season and I want this to be the best season ever. We have most of the equipment needed to make this a successful season: We are using the Canon 7D and Canon 5D(HD Cameras), we have the sound equipment, and the editing suite. But we need a small crew to operate the equipment so we can get the best quality sound and image.

The Show

"This Indie Thing" is a half scripted/half improv based webseries about 4 friends trying to make it in Hollywood and the people they meet along the way. It's Curb Your Enthusiasm meets Entourage. When I created the show one thing that was important to me was to have a diverse group of actors be on the show. The show features a dizzying array of characters from all ethnic backgrounds and walks of life and Season 4 of "This Indie Thing" will be no different.The show is 90% comedy and 10% drama (yes we threw in a little drama to mix things up a bit) We currently have over 50 episodes shot and posted on the http://thisindiething.com and I invite you to check out what we have so far. We did a lot for not having a crew, and when we raise the full amount through Kickstarter we will take the show to a whole new level with a crew.

Why we need Kickstarter

We want to raise the production value on "This Indie Thing" significantly, so we can approach  studios and/or distributors with a much higher valued product. We have done a lot with what we had to work with but now it's time to step our game up. In order to do this we need to hire a small crew. We also want to shoot this season with professional Union actors. We have some AMAZING storylines for this season, and I want the studios and the fans to see the show in the best light possible, so people can say "why isn't this show on T.V?"

How Kickstarter Works
