Update #1: The 3rd Letter - Update!

Posted on September 9, 2010

Dear All!

Philip (Bastiaan) here!
I realize that some people may not be piped in to the facebook group page or the official sites so I wanted to give you all an update and give you the proper channels to follow in the films progress, what has happened and where we go from here:)!

Ok, so firstly to set some confusion straight:)... The working title was '36 Stairs' and we finally named it 'The 3rd Letter' which was much more appropriate seeing as the scene to support this title was removed.
It was an early scene written in the script where Jeffrey Briefs elevator in his massive apartment block was out of order..., he decides to take the thousands of stairs to his Apt... only to collapse and literally drag himself up the last 36 stairs and nearly die in doing so (there is a tiny shot in the trailer of the stairs scene that did'nt make the final cut)

SOOOOO, where to begin! It has been so long and gone by in a flash! Needless to say we have been so busy!...

Firstly, let me say Thank you, again!
We have had such an overwhelming response to our initial calls for help, most notable of course: the funding was enough to get things going properly. And it shows; with over 120 people in the final credits.

Every last penny went out primarily to various VFX artists, which included tasks that Grzeg and I could simply not tackle on our own... it would simply take too long. The original score (recorded in London), which we are most proud of, and the never ending task of festival submissions:). The rest was done by a vast amount of generous help from Industrial Light & Magic and Platige Image (Poland), many of which are our friends and colleagues within. Grzeg and myself held absolutely none of the funds for ourselves and we are still submitting heavily to festivals all around the globe.

Early successes to date have been the winning of 'Best Director' from over 1200 short films submitted to HollyShorts Film Festival in L.A. and the winning of 'Best in Show' & 'Best Drama' from Nevada City Film Festival. The film continues to screen and gain selections across the globe weekly, and those updates can be found on the Facebook group page:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php...

So, we have a few festivals coming up, just off the top of my head: One in Seattle, Bram Stoker Film festival in Whitby (UK Premiere), One in Atlanta, another in Vancouver as we speak and one playing this Saturday at the VIC theater in San Francisco. Details below:

SFshorts screening of The 3rd Letter
Saturday, Sep. 11, 7:30 PMRed Victorian Movie House1727 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117

We will be there! SO if you are local, please come down for the QnA.

So what else!
The film has worked in so many ways for us as Grzeg has since been signed as a Director to Mothership, a sister company of the biggest VFX house in L.A.: Digital Domain and also partly owned by Michael Bay: http://mothership.net/. I have started my own production company: www.marauderfilm.com and are developing a British feature film - period-piece named Blue Blood, and generally the film has allowed us to open so many doors to a seemingly impenetrable business, and meet so many talented and wonderfully creative people. So we both have a huge gratitude for your support in helping us visualize our dreams.
