About this project
Hierarchy lost is a short debut movie written and directed by a Cannes Lion Award nominated photographer Andrzej Dragan. The film will be created in collaboration with Waldemar Pokromski, the acclaimed make-up and VFX artist behind Schindler's List, The Pianist, The Ninth Gate, Downfall, Perfume, or White Ribbon.
This independent, non-commercial project has also gathered the best scenographers, stylists and visual artists in our part of Europe and we are all collaborating together for free, or just symbolic rates to make it possible.
This short story of a scientist - quantum physicist making a very strange discovery will be a purely visual experience without a single word spoken. It will be created in the animated style of Andrzej Dragan's portraits.
On the scientific side the project is supervised by Andrzej (who holds a PhD in quantum physics) and his friends and colleagues physicists from the University of Nottingham and University of Cambridge, so this will be a unique marriage between Art and Science. The story takes place in a near future, so we had to create a fictitious "theory of everything" that is being discovered by the main character. Needless to say, the scientist (hopefully together with the viewer) will be shocked by his discovery and its consequences.
Since we want a complete creative independence for this project and we have no commercial goals, we were not looking for financial support from public institutions, we put our own money and time and effort in order to make it happen. Andrzej already almost went bankrupt, but to close the budget there are still extra funds missing and that's where you can really help us out!
On top of our gratitude you, as a (hopefuly! :) contributor to our project, will be rewarded with unique, dedicated numbered prints of Andrzej's works, rare, limited edition albums and catalogues, DVDs and behind-the-scenes materials from the set and even an invitation to an official dinner with Andrzej and his crew. We are also open to any of your suggestions!
If you would like to discover more about Andrzej's work we recommend an interview with him for a Polish public TV (subtitled) about his art and science:
