Production Update

Update #21 · Aug 28, 2012 · 11 comments

Hey Backers! We spoke with our die cutter today and have confirmation that our die will be completed on Friday. We’ll immediately get a sample of the die cut reservoir overnighted to us for inspection. This sample should arrive Monday. If needed, any revisions to the die are quick and easy. From the time we give our approval the cutting process should take about 10 business days. From there the finished pieces are shipped from the die cutting facility in MA to our Chicagoland warehouse. Once they arrive the reservoirs and other wrapped components are placed inside the glass for safe shipping in our custom made packaging. If all goes as planned we expect your aquarium to be shipped in about 4 weeks. We’ll post another update next week after we've inspected the reservoirs.

@Brian cool story bro, care to tell another? I can't wait for your project, since it will be handled so masterfully by the likes of you. Perhaps it will be a hat like the super cool one you are rocking but it will have a compartment for a hankerchief!!

@Jeremy --- Clueless is how this project is running... I have run many companies in my life thus far. I have manufactured parts and complete objects -- with proper management and QA I have yet to have this kind of miss.

I am about to launch a kickstarter -- and if I come close to managing it like this -- then I would go with "clueless" -- but to state an ETA of Feb. and miss it by this much -- with little to zero explanations -- that is not good management.
I am glad you are happy and have faith in these guys -- and I hope your faith pans out.

Craig & David... I understand the delays that are inherent in creating and bringing a new product to market and I appreciate the updates that you provide. Now, that being said, in my mind, such patience should be rewarded with, oh, I dunno, maybe an upgrade in lighting or something. For all the delays and frustration you have felt, we have felt it right along with you. This relatively small investment would, I think, go a long way in recognizing the patience and understanding of those that invested in you guys and this idea over 6-7 months ago. What d'ya think?

Brian & Norma: You guys seem pretty clueless. It's not that easy to create something from scratch and having it manufactured. We'll be getting our tanks, I have complete faith in these guys. If a manufacturer doesn't drill the right thing according to specifications, they have to completely start over. That means hours in AUTOCAD, hours adjusting the manufacturing machines, and repeating the process over and over until it works. Samples need to be mailed, that also takes time. Be patient.

Thanks for the update guys. Looking forward to it.

At this point I honestly have little faith that I will ever get the Fish Tank. I feel duped!

Kickstarter was also billed as a way to let the investors\supporters have an inside view of the process. This has not happened --- instead we get people saying be patient -- that's not good -- what needs to be said is -- we are your investors\clients -- Why is the project delayed so much? What is going on? Was too much money spent on marketing materials? We will never know. Instead we get to watch the project grow older and older with the same excuse for every update. This is odd -- if I were a project manager on this team -- I think my job would be in jeopardy if this is the way I update my clients. Also as for being patient -- it seems that ran out about 3 months after the ETA of Feb 2012.

Is there ANY OTHER pieces that need to be fixed? Every update you say one last piece so I just want to be sure!

To Matthew and Mallory, Kickstarter is about buying into the possibility of a product. Don't back if you're not a patient person. To Mallory specifically, sorry to hear about your fish.

@Matthew and the NoClean Aquarium team, there are several kick starter projects that I have backed that fail to deliver products in their estimated time frame. Ones that take significantly longer (like this project) usually send out messages or have some method of confirming that you still want the product before charging you; unfortunately this is not required. You have to understand that a lot of people using this site are going through the process of creating a product for the first time for mass consumption and underestimate the time it takes to achieve distribution. Honestly, I no longer want the aquarium anymore, my fish is sick and going to die any day now. Sadly, he will never see the aquarium and I don't plan on getting a new fish. Although NoClean Aquariums is getting pretty far from their delivery date, it was only an estimate. Once they invest the money they may not be able to give you the option to back out.

Seriously? What a pitiful update. You douches owe me two aquariums. Pay up or f off. What a joke this has turned out to be.
