About this project

Ghost Ocean Magazine is an online literary magazine, based in Chicago, that publishes poetry and flash fiction (as well as the occasional book review and interview) from emerging and established writers. In September of 2010, we splashed onto the world wide web at www.ghostoceanmagazine.com and changed human life forever.

Now, with the annual AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) Conference approaching, we've got even more work to do. We know this is the best opportunity to spread the word about our up and coming literary magazine and also to engage with our writer and readers, and future writers and readers. The conference is a one of a kind experience: we can hold fun contests and possibly dangerous literary activities for all--FOR FREE!--while making connections with other up and coming literary magazines and writers!

The money we earn here on Kickstarter will be used to fund the following for the AWP Conference:

***An AWP Bookfair Table

***Ghost Ocean Bookmarks

***Ghost Ocean Buttons

***Ghost Ocean Bottle Openers (That's right, bottle openers.)

***Ghost Ocean Pens (Writers love pens!)

***Poetry Postcards (featuring work from Issues 1-3)

***Limited Edition Chapbooks (also featuring work from Issues 1-3)

We expect the total costs to range between $800-$1000. Your donation will be a huge help in getting us to AWP and allowing us to create a fun, interactive table with lots of smiles and freebies. Our presence at the conference will help us spread the word about our literary magazine, but more importantly, the wonderful writers we have been fortunate enough to feature so far.

If we do reach our goal and you find yourself also at AWP in February, we'd love for you to stop by our table so we can thank you in person.

Thank you for your time and support,

Ghost Ocean Magazine is an online literary magazine for writing that is surprising, engaging, clever, and downright fun to read. We hope to promote and encourage emerging writers, while including work from established writers, as well. We occasionally feature interviews, reviews, and micro reviews.

Our Ghost Ocean family is comprised of four editors: founding editor-in-chief, Heather Cox; assistant editor, Timothy Moore; flash fiction editor, Emily Hansen; poetry editor, Madeline Phillips.
