 Summary: 

A less than average high school runner’s failure causes an older and wiser observer, Cliff, to tell the story of Benny Johnson. In Cliff’s recollection, Benny Johnson was beyond good at everything. The triumphs and tribulations of Benny play out through Cliff’s story, beginning with his superhuman running ability, perfect SAT scores, knack for helping out those in need, and musical abilities, which included all instruments except the trumpet.

     Cliff’s past with Benny is discovered when Cliff shines through in his high school music class by excelling at the trumpet, taking the first chair spot from Benny. After taking a fall during Cliff’s first solo performance, however, Benny regains the spotlight; rather than remaining famous for his accomplishments though, he is now experiencing “pity treatment” for the first time. A series of interactions with his fellow students cause Benny to ask Cliff the question that passes through every nervous teen’s mind. “Does anyone really like me?” He gets his answer through a bizarre happenstance involving a trumpet, a ledge, a rookie firefighter and a few hippies. 

     Anything more of the story would just be a spoiler.

Needs:

    Most of our financial needs are in Art Direction. We will be building two sets, buying period accurate wardrobe for 30+ actors and extras, and transforming a modern track field into one from the late 1960's. Of course props and various other items will add to that total as well, but the other cost of working with so many unpaid extras is providing meals and transportation. 

    The location is our next largest cost. Along with the decoration and transportation, the costs of permits from the city and providing our own power source add up quickly. 

    We're really very close to ready on this one. We have already secured some funding and most all of the camera, audio and lighting gear needed to produce a professional film, which is why we are reaching out for your help to get the last little bit.
