Update #15: Almost there!!!
Update #14: We ♥ YOU!
Dearest backers and supporters,
It's the end of our Kickstarter campaign and we are overwhelmed with appreciation, gratitude, and love for you. We're being serious. Really! It's because of you that we're able to finish our film that we've all worked so hard in making. We ♥ YOU! We know we keep saying this but it's true. We couldn't have done it without you. And your support has been astounding!
As of today (which is deadline), we have 80 backers and have raised $7,263! We've all succeeded in meeting and surpassing our goal. Now we have the ability to finish the film and share it with the world.
So now we embark on making a film that will make you proud. Into the editing studio; into the sound mix; and start getting the color correct together so it looks scrumptious. We will keep you informed on our developments. And we'll continue to update our website at www.normanmao.com with up-to-the-day schedules of post-production activities, screenings, and buzz. Be sure to visit regularly since now you're a part of the team.
With your rewards, we anticipate that we'll be sending you your rewards at the end of February. We have to first focus on finishing the film so we can make your DVDs. We'll be contacting you soon about the specifics of your rewards (i.e. T-shirt sizes, etc.). So look out for an email about this in the near future.
You should have received an email from Kickstarter telling you that they are processing your donations through Amazon. And unless you do not want to be contacted again, we will be putting you on our email list to keep you posted on our activities.
And finally, welcome aboard this crazy, fulfilling, and (sometimes-but-rarely) glamorous world of film production. We look forward to seeing you at a theatre near you!
If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Into the future we go and kudos to all!
Best,
Derek
Update #13: Last chance!!!
Hello world!
There's only 24 hours to go! We're in the home stretch on our Kickstarter campaign! And we wanted to give everyone a final reminder to join our team before time runs out tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM (EST)!
Remember, these rewards are exclusive. Which means that they will not be offered ever again. Want a signed copy of the script? Or a Norman Mao poster signed by George Takei? Or an “I ♥ Norman Mao” T-Shirt? You'll have to respond in less than 24 hours or else you're out of luck.
Thanks to all that have backed the film already! We couldn't have met the goal without your generosity and support. The next time you'll be hearing from us, we'll have a successfully funded project on Kickstarter and we'll all give each other a collective virtual pat on the back.
Danke! Gracias! Arrigato! Merci!
Best,
Derek
Update #12: Video #3 of our "I ♥ Norman Mao" behind-the-scenes series!
Update #11: Countdowns... to a New Year and our Kickstarter deadline!
Hello all!
First of all, the cast and crew of Norman Mao wish you a prosperous and fantastic New Year! We hope 2011 brings you all great joy. And it's looking up for us! We're jazzed about moving forward with the film and we have YOU to thank for that!
We have four more days left until our Kickstarter campaign hits our deadline. So if you know of people you would like to participate in making the film with us, please refer them to our site before this Wednesday, Jan. 5th at 10:00 AM. The clock is ticking and we'd like to have as many people on board that would like to join us as possible. Unfortunately, they won't be able to get any rewards or participate afterwards.
We've just finished in the editing room and almost done with the music! What's next? Off to the sound studio to do the mix and then onto color correction. We're shooting to have the film done in February. And we hope to be able to send you your DVDs or see you at a festival screening in the months to come.
Have a safe and fun evening tonight and we'll connect again in 2011!
Best,
Derek
