Kickstarter

Well there's been an amazing response to this kickstarter project.  We have enough pledged to meet the goal, and then some!  That means more options to create more content.  I'm really blown away by the support.  Many thanks to all!

While waiting for the kickstarter time limit to run out, I've been busy pulling together some other publicity material.  I've ordered some postcards and stickers from a great company, moo.com.  The postcards arrived today and they look great.  I'll put them inside promotional copies of the book and send them out to friends and family.  I'll also put the stickers up in places here in CA as well as in the UK when I go there next month.  I've attached the postcard and sticker images below.  Let me know if you can think of any other uses for them!

What an amazing start to this kickstarter project!  One day gone and we're already over a third of the way to our goal! 

Many many thanks to our first few sponsors that jumped in right at the beginning.  Wow Josh and Todd!  You guys are amazing!  Both are former students of mine, both dug with me in Pompeii, and both are kick ass awesome.  Thanks so much for your support!  It really means a lot.

Matthew, I don't know you but thank you so much for finding this project and supporting it!  Even though I've never lived in Texas, it turns out I have a lot of friends there, and I consider you one more.  Many thanks sir! (and yay critical thought!)

We'll see what the rest of the month brings.  I've already begun to edit sections of the novel that I think would translate well to being read aloud in the videos.  I'll build a script for the voice actors and let them work their magic.

As a little something extra, I'll add a photo.  This is a shot I almost used on the cover of Pantheon.  It is shot of some broken feet from a marble statue in the Roman amphitheater in Pozzuoli, north of Naples.  It was taken by Flickr user north_utsire.  To me it evoked the moment in the novel when the Greek gods came to earth, and the statues "put off their hardness and became soft" (as Apollo described it, echoing a line from Ovid).  I really like it.
