An Astounding New Recording Project Featuring Swing-Era Dance Tunes and Phenomenal Guest Stars! You Can Make it Possible.
CAMPAIGN ENDING TOMORROW!! Congratulations!! We reached our initial funding goal! The fun isn't over yet. We've got another 37 hours to reach as high as possible to help completely fund my album and promotion!!
Brand new REWARD: Pledge or raise your pledge to $35 or more and I'll add to your rewards a copy of my first full-length album "Songbird in the Moonlight" (released in 2008)!!
Hello friends, fans, family and those I’ve never met, but would love to.
My name is Molly Ryan and I’m a jazz singer from Roseville, CA. I've been living in New York City for the last nine years and with your help I'm going to record my long awaited second full length album.
It has been a dream of mine to record a swing album with my favorite musicians and I can’t tell you how excited I am that they’ve all agreed to participate in this album. Some of the songs will be familiar to jazz die-hards and some will be obscure surprises. You’re going to want to shine up those dancing shoes because these ladies and gents know how to SWING! We’re all set to record in Brooklyn this September, but we can only do so with your pledges.
My list of expenses includes, but is not limited to :
Musician Pay (including travel & airfare for some)
Recording Studio Costs (including mixing & editing)
Artists? Yeah. We’ve Got Artists.
Of all the many musicians I feel for and consider dear to me there is only one who is also my partner in life. You could say he “played” his way into my heart, but he’d probably tell you I sang my way into his. Dan Levinson has one of the most beautiful tones one has ever heard and no album of mine would be complete without his lyrical playing.
Speaking of which, Dan Barrett is by far the best jazz trombonist of his time. Dan doesn't just play an instrument. He makes music. In addition to performing on this album he has also taken on the task of arranger. You are in for a real treat.
I am spoiled to death after performing these last 8 years with Mark Shane. His fingertips are magic on the keys, and his knowledge of jazz era pianists makes him a force to be reckoned with. Try to out-swing him. I dare you.
Kevin Dorn. His name is all I need to hear to know my rhythm section is complete. Kevin is not only my favorite swing drummer; he is one of the coolest dudes on the planet.
John Reynolds has the personality of every cartoon character tied into one. He’s enthusiastic, genius-level intelligent, a mad man on the guitar and one of the reasons I am a singer.
What can I say about Vince Giordano that hasn’t already been said? He is a “great.” His whole life has been a labor to his art. His 1920’s band, the Nighthawks, is testament to this. Vince's bass playing is off the charts and he recently won a grammy for his musical work on the HBO hit series Boardwalk Empire.
Randy Reinhart swings the cornet like nobody’s business. Randy takes his place among all modern all-stars and shows the world what the cornet is really supposed to sound like. His playing is sweet, intuitive and genuine.
I am honored to have one of my idols sing beside me. When I first heard Banu Gibson I wondered how it was possible to connect so completely and intimately with an audience. In one song she will make you laugh, cry and feel as though she knows your innermost secrets. I know you’re going to love her and all she brings to our musical table.
Maude Maggart is a leading lady in the cabaret world. Her charming personality mixes with one of the sweetest voices on earth to draw you in with every lyric. I just love this woman and so will you.
Does Bucky Pizzarelli need any introduction? He’s a legend in the jazz world. There’s so much written about him all I really want to tell you is “Google him.” As a featured guest on my album I’m going to let him loose on some epic soloing and what you hear will utterly delight you.
One of the best aspects of this album from a listening perspective, aside from the outstanding artists, is the diversity of appeal. In these songs I have found something for everyone. With your help we’ll take the influences of Benny Goodman, The Boswell Sisters, Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby, Maxine Sullivan and others, and bring life to forgotten songs of the Jazz Age.
No matter how great or small your contribution, there aren’t words to express how grateful I am for your pledges and support. You make this possible. You are a part of the creative process and you have my heartfelt thanks.
With Deepest Appreciation,
