How Kickstarter works
Our project goal will allow us to produce a documentary, coffee table book and most importantly help show a younger generation how much Route 66 has to offer. The way Kickstarter works is a little different- unless 100 percent of our goal is reached the project does not get funded. That's why we need your help so much- even if it's just one dollar or 5 dollars that goes a long way to making this happen. Thank you so much for taking time to check out the project!
Documentary
We'll be filming a documentary to inspire America's youth to rediscover Route 66-we will be marketing and submitting the film to film festivals around the world. Only Kickstarter backers will receive the limited edition custom signed DVD of the film.
Mission/Philosophy
Myself along with 3 friends are setting out to prove Route 66 is still very much alive. Our goal is to show a generation of young Americans how beautiful this country is when you leave the interstates, suburbs, and fast food chains behind. We are making a documentary about the trip (along with coffee table book of our images)-from Chicago to Santa Monica, California. Equal parts discovery, adventure, and introspective-it's a sleepover at a complete strangers house, spontaneous side trip, follow your heart road trip. Follow us as we seek to rediscover America's lost highway-not just for ourselves but for a generation. We're traveling the Mother Road as it was meant to be done. Just our cameras, conversation, and companionship. We hope to turn back the clock to a time when this country was full of dreamers -and inspire it to become that once again.

History
Growing up in the Midwest I had always heard stories of "old" Route 66. My hometown of Springfield, Missouri is often called the birthplace of Route 66-receiving it's name here on April 30th, 1926. The road was at one time part of our nation's consciousness-the American dream in motion. Often referred to by it's nickname "The Mother Road" (first used in John Steinbeck's novel The Grapes of Wrath) Route 66 allowed Americans to head west in search of a better life. The road began a massive decline beginning in the late 1950's with the passage of the Interstate Highway Act. Today much of it is in disrepair and bypassed by interstates yet there are still holdouts from a bygone era. A tight knit group people run cafes, road side motels, and other attractions. They represent the still beating pulse of Route 66.
Coffee Table Album
We're designing a custom coffee table book with pictures, journal entries, and stories from our journey across America. This album will not be available in book stores. We're creating this album as a tribute to the people that make Route 66 so uniquely beautiful.

We chose the title to be attention grabbing. We in no way think that Route 66 is dead. We just want to show a younger generation what is out there. We think Route 66 is our nations greatest untapped resource when it comes to traveling, dreaming, and exploring.
