Hi everyone! I'm sorry it has been so long since I've posted an update! I've been super busy this summer with my normal wedding season work as well as making time for building the new collection. There have been set backs as well as jumps forward. My biggest set back was realizing that, as much as I tried, I couldn't accomplish everything as quickly as I'd hoped and my tentative deadlines had to pretty much be chucked out the window. I really wanted this to be a Fall 2011 collection but that just wasn't a realistic goal so Laura Whitney Couture will be launched as a Spring 2012 bridal collection.
Okay on to the good stuff!
The most exciting thing (& possibly stressful?) is that we have our first photo shoot scheduled for Aug. 14th!!! I have 2
wonderful models selected, a talented team of hair and make up artists
and a rental studio space selected. Yay! But oh my goodness there is SO much more to planning this photo shoot than that. We're shooting every garment and accessories in studio for use on the retail website which means coordinating a lot. You just wouldn't believe all the little details!
For example, shoes. I don't design shoes, but the models have to wear
something on their feet right? And I'd really rather not buy a
different pair of shoes for each gown you know, so it meant scouting
around for bride-worthy shoes to fit the models feet & also not
clash with any gown.
And many many other little details to be completed in (Eeek) just 17 days!
Another thing that is coming along nicely is the website. Dylan is hard at work in the evenings on laurawhitneycouture.com and periodically interups my sewing to have me check on the progress. His attention to detail is pretty astonishing and I often find myself saying, "Wait, what did you change? ...Oh honey, you're the only person in the world who will notice that!" The functionality of the site is going to be great and brides will be able to create their own "Bridal Profile" with all sorts of nifty features.
And of course the garments themselves are coming along. It's kinda crunch time for me now so I'll just leave you with a few pictures I took in the workroom this week!
p.s. If you haven't given me your mailing address at this point I'm kinda assuming you don't care if you get your Kickstarter reward, but if you just forgot you can still send it to me here: firstname.lastname@example.org
