JULIA is a short film that takes place on a Christmas Eve in the 1990's in the San Fernando Valley.
It's Christmas Eve in the San Fernando Valley and it couldn't be farther from your typical white Christmas. With the murder of Jen's husband over with, Jen and her boyfriend figured the most difficult part of the job was behind them. But it's in the killing's aftermath where the real drama of Julia begins: in a gritty, hair-on-end atmosphere ruled by big emotions and sinister intensions. Within the tense and desperate world of Julia we are reminded not to underestimate anything or anyone--not even 10 year-old Julia herself. The city of angels can make sinners out of saints.
I'm thrilled to share news of this project because Julia will be my first film as a director since the movies I made as a 9 year-old in my parents home in Ohio. Since then I've dedicated my professional and personal life to filmmmaking and I'm thrilled to make my own film happen in 2012.
After extensive draft work, co-writer Bridget Palardy and I finalized the script for Julia and began looking for the right filmmakers to help us bring our story to the screen. I find myself surrounded by so many skillful, passionate and creative filmmakers here in Los Angeles and I very much look forward to collaborating with them on this project. We are currently in pre-production with most of the crucial location and detailed prop work coming up in the near future, followed by detailed technical rehearsals.
Filmmaking asks many things of filmmakers-- one of them unfortunately is access to a wide range resources. Resources to build props, to feed mouths, to re-create a certain time or a certain place; any and all resources necessary to make an alternative reality happen. I am sharing my project with family and friends in the hopes that they might support an enthusiasm for storytelling or may share in my love of the movies. I am humbled by any family or friends, all busy with their own lives, as they share a moment of their days to visit this site and read about a project of mine.
My sincere thanks for your time and support!
