PROJECT is a new journal for architecture. Through drawings, images, and text, PROJECT investigates what architecture is and can be.

What is Project?

Project is a new journal for architecture. It is a platform for young architects to express their ideas and share their work on their own terms through writing, conversation, drawing, and image. Project presents ambitious new work in a concise, affordable format, which is thoughtfully designed and, with your support, produced.

Project fills a void in the field of architectural publications by being both rigorous and accessible. It is a printed alternative to the indiscriminate flood of images available on popular websites, and to the esoteric texts in academic journals. In a variety of media, our contributors argue forcefully for the unique capacity of architecture to represent, critique, and re-imagine the contemporary world.

Our goal is to create a space where young architects and critics can develop their voices and share their work and ideas with an audience of their contemporaries. In addition to actively soliciting work and writing from diverse international contributors, we also encourage unsolicited submissions.

Why support Project?

We have already collected an exciting range of content for Issue One. And we are well into the process of editing and laying out the final book, in collaboration with our art director and graphic designer, Monica Nelson (www.toyou-loveme.com). However, we need your help to pay for paper, printing, binding and distribution. In return, you get Issue One of Project, which includes new work and ideas from Hernan Diaz Alonso, Andrew Atwood & Anne Neimark, Pier Vittorio Aureli, Peter Eisenman, Jimenez Lai, MOS, and more.

We hope to be able to use the highest quality materials in order to guarantee that we produce a journal that you want to read and keep–a journal that is worthy of the projects that it contains. We have already secured some initial funding through private donations, which has allowed us to test printing options, purchase image rights, and produce promotional material. However, without your support the final printing and distribution of Issue One of Project cannot happen.

All donations are tax-deductible. Project is published, printed, and distributed by Consolidated Urbanism Inc., a fully certified 501(c)3 organization, and will be available for sale online and in independent bookstores this fall. We hope that you see the potential of such a forum for architecture, and that you enjoy discovering Project as much as we have enjoyed producing it.
