Flowers are bloomin', the sun is shinin' (on the East Coast anyway), and Project Agent Orange has shed its winter coat for the lighter days ahead! We have exciting news to share with you, including MORE ways to stay engaged this Spring!
PAO at a4
PAO is a strong supporter and member of the Asian American Arts Alliance. We have met many collaborators, heard about exciting opportunities, and shared laughs and thoughts alike with the community. We launched and closed our Kickstarter campaign at Townhall meetings and even performed in February. Now, a4 has asked Natalia to speak about the nuances of successful fundraising in their new series "It takes a village to raise a budget: Crowd-Funding" on Thursday March 22, 2012 6-8pm at the Museum of Chinese in America (MoCA). Click here for more information and to reserve tickets.
PAO and SEALNet
PAO is excited to join forces with SEALNet to bring awareness to how we can use art to engage communities in challenging conversations. We are currently planning fundraisers and workshops in Boston (April 22) and San Francisco (May 6). Stay tuned for more details about how you can see PAO live while also supporting the creation of a Devised Theater work in Vietnam this Summer! Applications are open until March 29 for college students who wish to be a part of the program.
PAO and Asian Arts Initiative in Philly
PAO has been asked to perform at the opening of the exhibit "Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon" on April 6, 2012 as sponsored by BPSOS and AAI in Philadelphia, PA. We will perform excerpts of our work and lead a Kinesthetic Empathy workshop the following day with youths from the community on Saturday, April 7. Bring the whole family!
PAO welcomes composer Xo Xinh
We are very excited to welcome electronic music composer Xo Xinh to the creative team at PAO! Xo Xinh is currently an MFA student in Electronic Music at Mills College in Oakland, California. His work aims to re-contextualize the essence of traditional instruments though spectral processing and generative manipulation; he experiments with new and old sounds, while mending as much as possible the broken gap between them sonically and musically. He will be creating new instruments which he will perform live at our show in May. Make sure to see this exciting collaboration!
As always, we hope this update finds you and your family happy and healthy this season. We invite you to take a breath with us in the present moment in order to recognize the profound ability of art to renew life within each of us this Spring.
