Kickstarter

Thank you all for your very generous pledges and other support for this project. Unfortunately, our kickstarter drive ends today and I fell short. My fault because the goal was too high and much of it was during the Christmas holidays, a busy and expensive time for everybody. Because the goal wasn't met, you will not be charged for your pledges. Though I must say your support -- $2,500 is not pocket change in my world  --was overwhelming and humbling.

And of course, this was only one source of funding I am seeking, so on we go. If you still feel that telling the story of the Trinity downwinders and getting them the recognition and compensation they deserve is important you can still contribute. Also, our producer for the America's Children of the Bomb project, Stuart Overbey of halflife digital in Albuquerque just won a top award at the Irvine flim festival in California for her recent feature documentary, "The Forgotten Bomb"  so we are in good company.

We crossed the $2,000 threshold over the holidays. But we have  only 13 days left and a long way to go the  $7,500 finish line. Again, thanks to everyone for your support. It's important.  Now that the holidays have mercifully passed, several fund-raisers are in the works. If you know of ohers in your social and business circles who might be interested,in making a contribution please share, as we were all taught to do in kindergarten.

I and a Trinity downwinder, Tina Cordova, were guests this morning (Dec. 19) on Mary-Charlotte's Santa Fe Radio Cafe on KSFR - FM 101.1 in Santa Fe. First, thanks to all of you for your generous donations, and the sharing you have done with your friends and contacts Times are tough, believe me I know, so it really means a lot,  especially to the Trinity downwinders, just to know that somebody actually cares after all these years of suffering alone and in silence.

Also, I note that the U.S. Senate recently passed a resolution declaring Jan 27 as a 'day of remembrance" for those who lived or worked downwind and were made sick by above ground nuclear weapons tests during the Cold War.  But once again, the Trinity folks were ignored. The resolution  notes that " on January 27, 1951, the first nuclear weapons test in the United States commenced at a site known as the Nevada Proving ground "  totally dismissing the Trinity test of July 16, 1945, in New Mexico about three weeks before the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Make of that what you will.

On Tuesday (Dec 13) I and a Trinity downwinder, Tina Cordova, will be interviewed by Mary-Charlotte of KSFR Raido in Santa Fe. about the Kickstarter project. for her talk show to be aired either Wed. or next week (I will let you know) .
